Larry is coming back to the U.S. now and the manufacturer is now fitting the screen. When I have more information or more of an “official” update, I’ll post that.

LHL is still working on fixing the screen. This is taking longer than expected but work is continuing. As soon as I have an official notice that the screen issue has been fixed and we are moving to the battery, I will announce that. We have an estimated timeline on this but we won’t announce it until it’s actually done, based on our previous update history.

    https://support.lhlabs.com/support/solutions/articles/13000049440-wave-software-update-5-19

I'll post it here. Remember to use a large amount of scepticism for any and all of this:

    (1) Touch screen response time is much better. (As good as the Source music server now)

    (2) Power saving mode and battery charge management

    (3) Album cover generation and cache system

    (4) Wifi network streaming stability

The next important "to-do" items over the next 3-5 weeks:

    (A) Bluetooth music transport

    (B) Wifi music streaming jitter reduction and optimization

    (C) USB "C" digital audio output (Lets Wave work as a digital USB transport)

    (D) SPDIF output sampling rate bug need to be removed

    (E) Web remote control interface debug

Please keep in mind the software side takes longer than the hardware side of things, due to the inherent intricacies of software. That's why we need to have that window of time. This is not a guaranteed timeline; it can fluctuate shorter or longer depending on if we do or do not run into software issues.

THE BATTERY VENDOR HAS BEEN FINALIZED. The vendor is trying to nail down our lead time, but it will be approximately 6-8 weeks (usually) from time of order. Again, with this type of project, there are no guarantees on timelines.

When I have more information, I'll post that.

Please keep checking our Freshdesk forums and IGG page comments for "soft" updates (those updates which are very minor tidbits of information that don't warrant a full "official" update or email blast) in the meantime.

The Freshdesk forum can be viewed below:

Thanks for your patience as the team continues to work through this project to completion.

Software "issues" depend entirely on whether developers can actually do their jobs or not. Entirely. People either write software that works... or they don't. It isn't magic spells: it's code. Just code.

    So... "no guarantees", then.

Oh yeah, that reminds me I also ordered a tricked out Source! Any chance of an update on that as well?

Actually, did anyone here actually receive a Source? Saw on the LHLABS page that they supposedly started shipping last fall. I ordered the Source with the 4T disk, Femto clocks, the "plus" and also the power and cap upgrade. Wow, just had a bad Gavin Fish "Perkageddon" flashback...

The "Squad" bot may not be be programmed to deal with that one.

(Very sad: I'm told he used to be a real human member. Let this be a lesson to all!)

Incidentally, I googled "Gavin Fish", as I was curious what that fine specimen was up to now, and I learned:

    • He still has LH Labs in his twitter bio. Oh-kaaaay.
    • There's a fish in an aquarium called Gavin. He loves to photobomb visitors. He's a much nicer Gavin Fish.

    He looks like this:

    Isn't that an improvement?

But with tricked out you don´t mean the "SE" version, right?
Based on the info Jarek has shared with the backers there are 35 Source SE´s. Accordingly to him a few have been shipped (same status since couple of months ago).

After those SE´s will all be shipped the focus will be on the "normal" Sources.
    And we wait...and wait...and wait...

I saw a post on FB where a photographer had a shoot for new Vanatoo speakers. He mentioned that he was "happy to have Gavin Fish at the shoot".
At first I wanted to ask him if Fish is involved somehow with Vanatoo (but I didn´t). Anyway....I don´t understand that any company is still doing business with him.

Another "update", which I'm posting here:

    Remember to exercise scepticism!

Here are the latest software progress updates:

    (1) HD music file new cache system. (So if big SD card is used inside, we can cache the index file better)

    (2) Internal music player server got a better upgrade for faster sample output and more reliability

    (3) We are making charging speed faster (which is software controlled), but not too fast to potentially kill the battery in short term

    (4) Generated album cover art got more reliable for different formats and faster

    (5) Roon support is in good progress too. Roon is updating some kernel library that we just successfully integrated into our code base.

Thanks! We'll keep you updated on the progress!

A mental picture of someone charging around inside Linux code, ignoring all the ready-made music optimisation wheels that have been invented ages ago?

Might time be better spent implementing a firmware-upgrade system for the future and shipping what they have got now?

I do feel for @Kunlun, he's got money invested in this. But if and when it does ship, I shall miss his acerbic posts on the topic.
