I finally got some of my vintage gear together and moved it into my office. The crux of the gear is the Hafler amps which date back to 1983. I got them in kit form and put them together with a computer tech (computers were new back then) along with a Hafler DH101 pre which I am trying to find. I know there is a rebuild/upgrade kit out there and now that I know these babies work (and work well) I might pursue that next upgrade after I get the system set up properly and find that preamp (or replace it sadly). After 30 years the only thing wrong is a light is out on the power switch.

Have you tried using one amp only in stereo mode? The reason I ask is that I've found my Haflers to sound much better in stereo than in bridged mono (I have a toggle wired on the back panel to make them easy to switch). More power is always good, but not at the expense of detail and separation of instruments. YRMV! If you do experiment with one amp and like the results, but still want more headroom and dynamics (who doesn't), it appears your Acoustats have the potential to be modified for bi-amping:

Here's a link for the go-to guy (John Hillig) for mods and repairs on your amps, a good guy and great service, needs a better web site;):

Many many moons ago i tried them in stereo vs mono. This is the original kit and the switch is on the inside on mine. The links you provided are fantastic. It will take me a little while to read up on all that.
