I heard the opposite WRT bass using the iEMatch on my micro iDSD when I tried out the Andromedas (meet conditions). Set to "Off" and "Ultra" (low OI) the bass sounded boosted and muddy compared to the "High" (OI ~4Ω). Others have found the same in the Andro impressions thread. Admittedly I wasn't listening carefully to mids/highs as I was focusing on the effect on the lows. The exact implementation of iEMatch could be different on the iDSD and standalone device.

These are the iEMatch prototypes that I bought 1.5 years ago for my iDAC2 that really needs a gain switch. Found it hard to get past the channel imbalance in the pot without making myself deaf on louder tracks. iFi kept promising the iEMatch was coming out soon, but I got tired of waiting.

Not sure if this is the right way to measure impedance, but using an ohmmeter I get about 2Ω across ground, 12Ω across the L/R channels for the -12dB ("High"), and 15Ω across L/R for the -24dB ("Ultra"). That is, I measured the DC resistance across T, R and S using the male-to-male 3.5mm cable that comes with the T50RP.

I think read somewhere (can't remember where) that they had them made in China which is where the "Senn" connectors came from.

Can IEMatch convert TRRS balanced into SE mode? At present, I am using HD650 with custom cable terminating 3.5mm TRRS balanced and if I need to run SE then I need to change to normal cable terminating TRS jack which is a hassle. Not sure if this can help converting BAL to SE just flicking of a switch.

I see you posted your question in the HF thread. I searched for "balanced" and found this post.

Thank you very much. So in short answer, if I connect trrs balanced plug connect to unblanaced source on SE setting, i can hear both left and right channel? When I connect balanced trrs jack to unbalanced source, I can only hear left side hence interested in this option.

Got the answer. It is possible to be connected to SE sources with trrs balanced cable but not the other way around. It will be handy for those who has trrs balanced cable to connect SE source without changing cable. :)

I always found the IEMatch to be an improvement with the Andros on the Fiio X5 3rd, but I'm finding the Earbuddy does something pretty nasty that has been driving me crazy since I got it (Iematch broke).

The IEMatch may have done the same thing, but after listening directly from the X5 for a few months, the transition to the Earbuddy is conflicting. When I repurchased the Andros, I already had the IEMatch and X5 so that was my baseline listening
