I was using a 7+ for the last few months until it got stolen. I don’t notice any slower performance with my 6S+, but based on prior history I’m not sure how long this will last.

It’s quite possible iOS 12 or some future iteration will cause prior generations to show their age. But maybe the existence of lower-cost units like the SE means Apple has _some_ incentivization to keep new OS releases performant on older/slower hardware?

Does the IPhone SE have same SQ as the 5s. Same form factor so I would assume so, but you never know.

That’s about the only model with a HO I haven’t tried.

My first iPhone is the SE and I'm surprised how good it sounds. Not very powerful and not the best dynamics but it's pretty balanced. The included earbuds are surprisingly good too.

You can get the 32GB SE now for 275 now and to me it's a steal. But I like small phones.

The SE is a souped up 5S, kind of cobbled from existing parts from iPhones in the 5 and 6 lines. Shares lots of the same accessories from your 5S too...

I would think the SE is like the iPod touch with a sim card

I'm looking at an iPhone for the first time in many years. The sole reason would be compatibility with the cipher cable for the isine 20 (one day the lcd-i4, maybe). Looks like the 6+ would be a good choice. It's a tough decision leaving Android. I'm so invested in apps and the things that it does for me I'm not sure that I would survive the transition. But to have the isine 20 on the cipher cable and portable is extremely compelling. Tough call. An android cipher cable would be the ultimate solution for me.

Actually now considering the IPhone 7 plus. I had skipped over this as I figured that if I make the jump to ditching the headphone jack, I might as well get latest and greatest (at least, that is not an Iphone X). I really do like my wife's 8 plus. But I thought price difference was $100. Actually closer to $200 since the 7 plus comes in a 128 gb version. In the 8 I get 256 GB, but cannot imagine blowing through 128 so that money on excess storage is kind of wasted. Plus, unlike the 6s, the 7 is recent enough to be available for annual upgrade programs. I can see upgrading to next model of the X in a year, particularly if they add a bigger size as rumored. Not realy loving the black glass back on the space grey Iphone 8. OTOH, the matte black Iphone 7 has been one of my favorite looking Iphones and there is less worry about glass breakage from drops.

The only real reason I guess then to jump to the 8 over 7 would be if the camera is significantly better. I understand it has basically same specs as the 7 but is supposed to be better due to software and other reasons I don't necessarily follow. If anyone has a view on that it would be appreciated.

I would take the 7+ over the 8+ due to being less fragile not to mention the repair cost of fixing the back glass. It's more then a new screen.

When I got my Samsung A5 2016 one demand I had was 2gB or RAM or nothing. After my iPhone 4S crashed I focus on a few specifications: RAM and a capable processor really matter.

If it hasn't already been mentioned, Pixel doesn't have a headphone jack either and you'll need a dongle too.

I do like the Pisel 2XL. But for screen issues and lack of headphone jack I would be really tempted to dump IOS. Stock Android seems pretty decent. I think I have been somewhat biased against it based on what Samsubg does to Android.

In case you were all waiting with bated breath for my decision, I ended up buying the IPhone 8+. With 256GB I can load my entire music collection from home library which I had not done in a while, in addition to my extensive Napster download collection. Unfortunately though I have been stuck using this damn dongle thingy.

Still not sure how I feel about the size. I had thought my issue would be having such a large device in my trouser pocket. I had always said that the plus-sized phone seemed to make a lot of sense for women who can carry them in purses, but less so when you need to put them in pants pocket. However, I have found that it doesn't bother me that much in my pants. I am adjusting though to the size of it in my hand and how awkward it feels when in use. My wife has smaller hands than me and her 8+ doesn't bother her, but to me it feels so clunky. But I do love the increased screen real estate and availability of landscape mode (even if I don't use it that much).

Due to holiday period, I have extended time to try it out. I expect I will keep it, but I am considering returning it and getting the smaller IPhone X just due to form factor. But for form factor, I would rather have greater usable screen space in the 8+ coupled with the LCD screen than the nicer OLED panel but less usable space of the X. Kind of odd coming from the very small 5s as everything should seem big to me, but I do like the greater screen size of the 8+ with my aging eyes.

Against my better judgement, I purchased a jesusphone (aka iPhone X.) This is after using a 6+ for many years. I half-expected to send it back, but in the end, I really like it, and I'll be keeping it.

If you can get past the Apple aesthetic of running through a meltdown at a crayola factory, their idiotic insistence on stacking icons at the top (rather than free positioning like Android), and some incredibly cheap-assedness (no USBC to lightning cable, thank you Apple, as I have already committed to the dongle hell of the new MacBook), you'll really like the X, I suspect. Using it is fluid, intuitive, seamless, and fast. It does come down to intangibles, but in the end the experience is worth it. At least for me. And I am finally rid of the fingerprint sensor, which I have always hated.

Full disclosure: I also own and carry an Essential phone, which I also really like despite its flaws. To me, Android wins on aesthetics and customization, Apple wins on the total experience.

Do I need to submit a disclosure form for this review?

It's actually available now! It's about the size of a Modi Multibit, requires a wall-wart, and a USB OTG or Lightning to USB CCK cable.
