Somehow I've failed to hear Ron Miles live all these years. A fellow jazz nut at work mentioned his just-about-to-be-released album "I Am a Man" with Bill Frisell, Jason Moran, Thomas Morgan, and Brian Blade (what a wow team), which just showed up on Yellowbird Records via HighResAudio. I also grabbed the earlier Miles/Frisell/Blade "Circuit Rider." The two are very different, "Circuit Rider" is more pop, "I Am a Man" more folk/spiritual in a Brian Blade Fellowship Band vein, but both are strongly felt work with deep roots. Loving both, in their different ways.

Of course I now see I am an idiot for not including the album name or song. The album is “Kind of Blue” and the track is “So What”.

All my recent ECM purchases are via digital downloads: HDtracks and ProStudioMasters mainly. In Europe, HighResAudio carries all their recent releases.

I just posted this in "what are you listening to right now", but it fits here as well....A beautiful Chesky release, just upright bass & piano beautifully recorded.
