Don't even visit that place, don't have that much time. I'd rather be here.

I was always lurker over there. Long ago was a good place for information, before the dark times, before.....The Emperor. Only time I know about anything over there anymore is when it spills over here.

    BTW-Great song!

I just realized that this drama has taken up 9 days of our lives. But the results were worth it.

Jude reads this site like mad. He actually follows a few people to slurp up knowledge so he can appear half-way intelligent taking about sound in his videos. He's come a long way since the days where he would use words like "fleshy". Anyone who has followed him throughout the years will have noticed that he's incorporated over time a lot of terminology and vocabulary that is used here.

P.S. Maybe we should give our Sony MDR-Z1R loaner to Sonic Defender after the loaner tour is done. If he really loves it, and has fallen on hard times, I see no reason why not.

Headfi closes threads when they shouldn't be closed, and doesn't close threads when they should be closed.
They really should close that thread, its useless arguing now.

Controlling the narrative is way more powerful than trying to completely hide/scrub something.

Like North Korea acknowledges the existence of the US, but makes its people think the US is terrible.

One of the most brilliant examples is the Tiananmen Square Massacre. Rather than try to deny it ever happened the govt took the tactic of shaping it into something favorable. Now many, many young people in China believe that it was necessary for that to happen to cause China to move forward economically. That's the common narrative. On the week of its anniversary this year many social networks such as Weibo just happened to be down for scheduled maintenance.

Yes. Of course some of the details have slowly changed over the years. Also, I remember at the time that they blacked out media when they went in to remove the students. There was no video footage so I'm sure there's some denial as to the level of violence. That couldn't happen today with camera phones and social media. I know it's kind of harder to fathom when you've grown up in the era of instant info!

I haven't been on Head-Fi enough to speak knowledgeably about it. I just had the impression that all references to SBAF were deleted. The Z1R thread is the first one that I noticed where negative SBAF comments are allowed.

LOL. Just spit coffee on my keyboard.

Jude just gave up trying to pretend it doesn't exist, because obviously it does. New change in policy I suppose. I like it. Mommy says Harry Potter moives don't exist. Mommy then says Harry Potter movie is Satanic.

I guess no one likes this idea huh? I was actually serious. Oh well.

Until recently, it's been a while since I visited Head-Fi. Some history from me:

The first audio site that I actually joined was Innerfidelity. I met Marv while discussing some random stuff in one of the commentary sections there. I think with was measurements and had to do with Clio. In fact, I met Luis (LFF), Whitney (Rythmdevils), and Mike (Anaxilus) through the several articles at Innerfidelity. Luis came up with one of the best Fostex headphone modifications. He was not the first (that was Smeggy), but he did a very good job with it. Whitney was looking for a great headphone and was himself doing modifications to both Fostex and vintage headphones. Particularly planar magnetic. Mike was sort of into HD800 and vacuum tube headphone amplifiers. He and Marv featured in the Anaxilus mod article.

They (Marv/Purrin, Luis/LFF, Whitney/Rythmdevils, and Mike/Anaxilus) all at some point prominent members at Head-Fi, and somewhat established members at Head-Case. I think actually all were "Headphoneous Supremus" and "High Rollers". And they were the core original members of Changstar.

I think Rex Aeterna (David) joined very early on as well. And he was one of the original main contributors at Changstar. There was also Questhate and CeeTee. I met them both at Changstar.

From Innerfidelity I joined Changstar. And from there I joined Head-Fi, per suggestion of Rythmdevils (RD). I did not have a good understanding about why the animosity towards Head-Fi, nor did I understand the culture very well. So RD suggested to joint HF to get a feel about what was going on.

I sort of gravitated around the "Sound Science" sub-forum. Note that to me "Sound Science" is sort of a ridicule title. Like being a sane or sound person, so it translates to me like sarcasm, as in "Crazy Science" or something like that. And indeed, a lot of people labeled as "objectivists" and somewhat undesirables to the purposes of Head-Fi are re-routed there, in the crazy people sub-forum.

I think it was something that I said about Steve Guttemberg being sort of a reviewer that has no idea what he is writing about, nor any desire to learn and inform himself better about how the products he is reviewing actually work that trigger Jude into following me. Steve is really another word-of-mouth add space dude in my opinion. And dresses and seems to act like a hippy from the 60s that digs music and art. But in realty seems more like a writer bending to the will of the industry and the dollars behind it.

As time went by I looked at the recommendation threads at Head-Fi. And they were all over the map. With some people appointing themselves as experts, with clearly no idea what they were talking about. Jude with all his years would have easily picked on the misinformation. But it didn't seem to mater as long as all things were positive. It doesn't take much to get a feel for what Jude wants. Agree with him, follow and endorse all his projects (meets, adds, whatever), and be "thrilled" to be part of his forum. The fact that a random person has no idea what he or she is talking about, and indeed may be sort of unstable in some ways does not matter. Just endorse and keep writing random positive shit.

It was not for me. I don't know where Head-Fi is going. But a good source of information is not. And what it was good for, bringing new products into the spot light, is sort of dying out to some extent. Some of the policies Head-Fi follows may not be that attractive to vendors.

So I don't know. If it succeeds and grows more (Head-Fi), more power to them. But I just don't see it. Not with the current direction they have. It thrives on misinformation too much and ask too much from it's supporters (sponsorship programs and perhaps even partnerships). But I might be wrong, and to be honest I don't care.

Don't like the idea. It would be enabling. (Unless that was the idea.)

I like the idea. It would be interesting to see if he would post about it, and if so, what that would be (before it got deleted).
