I don't think that is scheduled, however we can do one of a few things, I can direct you to a NY area retailer that will carry and assort them or, if we can get enough people together, I am still willing to do a meet up

No idea what multi-quote is, I mean by looking at the words, I understand what it should be or do...however in practice, no idea how to do it.

Yes, this is a little bit more a question for my HP engineer, I'll ask him and then reply, he is in Asia (he'll be with me and Vlad at RMAF). I do know we are looking at alcantara, velour, and different durometer foam. I know enough to be dangerous and drive my team crazy, but in application, Andrew is the expert, so I'd rather get you some answers from him on what he is seeing (hearing) when the material is changed, thickness, perforation and foam density...

Any words on the sound signature you were aiming for with the HP3? Any favourites amongst the many headphones you benchmarked against?

    Thanks

Jesus christ these are absolutely phenomenal looking. I'm always somewhat skeptical about pad mounting mechanisms like that, but if it's removable then, man I'd love to get my hands on a pair.

Really looking forward to trying these out as soon as possible!

There's a lot of nostalgia for me lying amongst the tattered husks of many a D5000 and D7000, back at a time when this 'hobby' was still relatively new for me and held the promise of future adventure. Back when so many of us here today still fed ourselves lines about it being "all about the audio journey" lmao. Marv mentions a lot of us being secret bassheads / warmheads / funheads. Well, it's true.

The TH900 for a while seemed ideal, but that honeymoon ended quickly thanks to the midrange vacuum and frequency extremes which were just too fatiguing with certain genres. For a while though, that was MY headphone. I called it one of the best dynamics I had heard since the old Sony R10 (and I still feel it is --- in some ways). I wrote articles about it on that other site and maybe even wrote a love letter or two to the headphones themselves. It was a sad day when I parted ways with it and the accompanying Zana Deux amplifier,

The TH900 was so close in many ways, yet so far in others. The newer THX00s from Massdrop are surely great values, but they still can't capture the magic that the TH900---despite its flaws---brought to the table. The Lawton LA900 I heard was a step forward. However those midrange issues seemed to be there to stay, sadly.

If what I've been hearing about the HP-3 is true, then it's a headphone many (including myself) have been looking for: the ever elusive, reference grade "fun" headphone. Glory be!

    Post script:
I mean, there's the Abyss and all. But I personally can't wear the 1266 for too long these days due to nerve damage from surgery. And I assume most people can't or won't spend the requisite $5k to go down that rabbit hole.

A local retailer would be great! It can't be as easy as Best Buy/Magnolia could it?...I know that they're a Klipsch dealer. Either way I'm excited to hear them.

Just for clarification, are they released? you mentioned selling out in other markets, but the website lists it as available for pre-order (I'm assuming also that $1199 is the 'set' price, not a pre-order special).

Thanks again for taking time to answer our questions.

I bet the headphones sounds amazing, but I'm loving your landing page! Those pictures are on point, the arrangement of elements is simple but very powerful I think!

I'm local in NYC and would totally be down to do a meet up and test these out. Store works too! I just wanna hear them before I drop 1k on these! Is there a special preorder price going around?

Looks like the price crept up to $1200. Is that for the whole enchilada package with the stand and fancy box?

I'm looking forward to hearing these. I've got my easy listening euphoric planar headphones, and analytic HPs, but I still really want a fun bass-head (NOT Beats hurt my ears, but more of that reverb subterranean sound) set of cans. Something that is really good for rock, pop, and just because I am in a rock-out mood.

Long time Kipsch fan and owner, but hey, I love the sound of horn loudspeakers. High hopes these don't disappoint ;)

I lived in Cabot, Arkansas for eight years and got my degree at UALR...how did I not know that Klipsch was in Hope? Man, even Arkansas has a bigger audio-company prescence than Missouri (all we got is an indirect connection to JDS Labs across the Mississippi and ZMF in Chicago.)

Back on topic, I may have to look into these now. Are you guys ever going to visit JDS Labs' meet that usually happens around May every year?

Yup. I've got some BAD news too. Klipsch let go Steve Jain / @musiqlovr. This feels llike a punch in the gut to me because Steve was so passionate about the HP-3 and I know that he wanted to stick with the $999 price. I wish they gave him more time. I rarely see so much passion behind a product. No doubt in my mind that had Klipsch gone on the path Steve laid out, they would have been very successful.

    ... Motherfucker.

Posts like the above are what make me think a Facebook-like system of Reactions would do well on here too because that shit is not kosher.

Edit: re-read this years later and realised I should have specified: reactions like middle fingers to express discontent without having to reply or dislike a post because latter would be misdirected and former wastes space, lol.

Holy shit! @musiqlovr’s willingness and ability to engage with the community is a massive asset. It is obvious that a lot of ‘forum reconnaissance’ went into the development of HP-3...

Seriously? After all the work he put in? Big f'ing mistake on their part. These have instantly dropped off my interest list. Great job Klipsch. Jack up the price and then fire the guy who made the whole project happen.

Yeah, I've now lost interest in this headphone. Shame about @musiqlovr...all the best.

I'm actually seriously pissed about this. I have been following this since the very beginning, back when Steve posted on Headfi a year ago asking for feedback on a then-unnamed flagship headphone. I told Steve about SBAF and convinced him to join and get in touch with @Marvey for feedback. Steve was extremely receptive to feedback and really tried to make a headphone that was a breath of fresh air. As Marv said, serious punch to the gut finding out that he has been let go. That's the corporate machine for you.

I wonder if this had anything to do with him losing his temper on Headfi and making a few ill advised posts going after some moron who accused Klipsch of using all off the shelf parts in the HP3 and not doing anything original. The best response would've been silence and Jude and crew would've dealt with it as always.

I appreciated his willingness to engage with us. Less enthusiastic about the HP3 now. Good luck Steve.
