    Cool, thanks for the heads-up!

    <edit>
I'm curious about the integration with the LHL Control Panel with this update, as it only controls the digital volume level, not the gain. Hopefully the new scheme is integrated and the control panel volume control will behave the same as the button presses.

Ehhhhhhh.... anybody familiar with "xe" fw files?
Can they also be used with the dfu utility program?

Thought the fw file should be a "bin" (the ones at the Chinese page are)?

must admit I like the up/down volume button functionality of the v2.1 firmware on GO2Pro (battery model) SpecEd, since it's more often hooked up to iPhone/iPad for transportable/mobile.

yet for my GO2A SpecEd (USB model)- prefer staying on v1.5 for computer-software volume control. as the GO2A is hooked to a laptop or iMac, where hands on the keyboard is quicker to change volume or Mute button.

Yep.. Larry mailed the xe file for 2.1.
I asked him once I had the file but he hasn't responded yet.

    Hence I'm hesitating a bit...

Looks like it's an actual XFlash file that should be piped as input into XFlash to create the bin file. You got an unbaked image there. Actually, probably just a brainfart on his part and he sent you the xe, not the bin.

I just throw it into line out mode and have my powered speakers control the volume.

Can't you use line out mode for the 2A? Hmm, i guess the software volume control doesn't do anything in line out mode.

He just mailed me the 2.1 bin file.
Will give it a try tomorrow (keen to use the line out functionality to go into my HP amp).

    Marflao,

I saw you every where. ;-)

The first XE sent out file was the wrong format. You need the XMOS burner to burn that directly to the flash.
The second BIN file is the right format for USB DFU.

Here I list out the new features of firmware 2.1/2.0

    (1) New feature - Volume Control Buttons (Up and Down)
Total 128 digital segments with analog based gain control.
Just press the Up button to volume up. Down button to volume down.

    (2) New feature - Line Out mode
Press the UP button all the way up. When you see the original signal mode LED change to Light Green.
GO2Pro and GO2A is entering Line Out mode which totally by-pass the volume control and designed to
connect directly to Headphone Amp or Pre-amp. Max Vrms on Singled-ended: 3.2V rms

    * For Balanced output. Please connect TRRS to two XLR cable to balanced output. Also add and connect
another cable to connect GO2Pro/GO2A’s ground to Preamp’s ground via TRS Singled-ended cable.

    (3) New feature - Smart Gain
GO2A and GO2Pro will choose the proper analog GAIN settings according to the current volume setting by button.
When you approach the -2dBFS of LOW-GAIN and volume up. Firmware will automatic change GAIN setting to MID-GAIN.
When you approach the -2dBFS of MID-GAIN and volume up. Firmware will automatic change GAIN setting to HIGH-GAIN.

    (4) Updated feature - Please press TWO volume buttons at the same time to change digital mode/digital filter on the fly
TCM (Green) -> SSM (Red) -> FTM/FRM (Blue)

    (5) Updated feature — Digital Mode 2.0
By developing the new digital filter algorithm for our DaVinci MK2’s DSD decoding engine, we use the similar method to
re-write the digital mode firmware inside GO2PRo and GO2A. Especially in FTM/FRM, we achieve the smoother sound on high,
even better sound stage. TCM has better FR on DSD playback.
(Remark: DaVinci’s PCM engine doesn’t use digital filter. Only on Dual engine 2.0’s DSD decoding side we have digital filter)

Yes...got the right one, Larry, thanks.

    @ all:
I installed the new 2.1 FW on my GO2ASE and tried the line out feature (GO is connected to a WIN 8.1 notebook and a Jotunheim).

First song i played via foobar was fine but when the song switched to a 24bit/96kHz file it stopped.
Seems that no songs higher 16/44,1 will be played (which was possible with the old FW 1.5).

Do I need to change anything in f2k? Thought this would not be needed.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    EDIT:
All good...seems that a restart of the notebook solved it. Flac files higher than 16/44,1 will be played, even dsf and dxd files.

    Hi Larry,

got some questions regarding the line out- and filter selection features.

When I set the GO2ASE in line out mode the "DM" LED is light green (as described in your post) and the "G" LED is red.
Now i want to change the filter to FTM/FRM which has the effect that the "DM" LED is blue while the "G" LED remains in red (guess this is ok)

Question is if the line out mode is still enabled?
Do you know if the new FW has some impact on the "temperature"? I have the feeling that the GO is slightly hotter than with FW1.5 (can´t leave my hand longer than 10sec on it). Have you recognized that, too (or is it just my imagination :))?

And is it intended that once the notebook "awakens" from sleep mode, the manual volume mode within the GO is enabled (although line out mode was chosen)?

    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    Markus

Because it is not that easy to follow all GO iterations, let me know if I have it right. It will be helpful I guess :

    VERSION No battery With battery
    1st GO100/450/720/1K
    2nd V2 V2+ plastic case
    3rd V2A V2+ metal plate / GO2pro

I currently have V2A infinity version, I'm really happy with this. It sounds wonderful, at the same level or very very close to my combo Modi Multibit/JOT
I might now replace my V2Ainf by a V2+ metal to use also with my phone... I'm also looking forward to try the new firmware

The GO2Pro marketing is confusing as heck. I assume they have yet to reach 100 committed buyers and thus it is not being produced yet?
