    On a day when I really needed a good laugh @Marvey your sarcasm came through for me!!

    Yeah, let's request someone who volunteers a major investment of time in an activity requiring listening skills and constant threat of listening fatigue to punt his life for our fleeting amusement or some other entities' commercial gain. I know how much time and effort I put into the measurements; I still think I have the easier job compared to those on this forum providing the listening evaluations.

    I wouldn't hold a grudge against a few random internet trolls, they come & go. Outside of your thread here & Marvel's old DAC comparison (that is still being referenced by many) from a few years back, are the only things tens of thousands of people have to go on for genuine high end DAC reviews.

    It's less of "holding a grudge" (I'd say "bearing a grudge") and more that I silently hope they spontaneously combust - and burn very, very slowly. Or, if the combustion isn't spontaneous it is, at least, a result of them haphazardly soldering poorly trimmed/frayed, cotton-covered wire all over the inside of their latest, stupidly named, optimistically-specced, but-otherwise-data-sheet-design miracle-DAC.

    Of course, having to listen to such things in the first place might just be punishment enough ... and I see no further reason to continue to inflict such things on myself.

    Couple this, with the above, and we get back to the increasingly common situation in which "a small number of unnecessarily cunty-types spoil it for everyone else". Phrases such as "This is why we can't have nice things" or "Don't bite the hand that feeds you" come to mind here.

    As ever, the best way to find a DAC you'll like is to audition them.

    --

    @Marvey's genuinely insightful and funny post, above, is just too close to reality for comfort. It misses out on some of the more entertaining threats, and some of the raw vitriol when CRAPDAC44 is found to be, well, quite shite, but is otherwise right on the money. Half the people bitching about things aren't even looking for reviews, they're looking for affirmation for something they've already bought and want other's to think highly of to prop up their tiny, fragile, egos.

    Haha. You know, I thought he was pretty good entertainment as long as he was contained but I can see why he wasn't allowed to stay. Honestly, the thing that surprises me the most about a guy like you... if you know they're idiots, then why do you let them get to you? o_O

    Maybe it's the water drops chipping away at the stone and it's just not fun anymore.. fair enough but I'm pretty sure that 99% of sbaf is behind you in any case.

    They don't "get to me".

    This doesn't mean they aren't poster children for retro-active abortion.

    Nor does it avoid the extra work necessary to head-off the random bullshit spewings, mewling and noise-generation that is the signature of the fanboy, idiot, the willfully clueless, hard-of-thinking and/or failed-brain-transplant-recipient. And if you don't do that ... you get Head-Fi and, to a lesser extent, Computer Audiophile (principal home of fans of things that cannot possibly have the effects that are claimed).

    My suggestion is simple - try it for a while and see for yourself.

    Having to continually state and re-state things, much like I'm doing right now, does not help.

    Regardless, for previously stated reasons, it has ceased to be enjoyable for me - ergo, I'm not going to do it anymore.

    I'd like to propose making "Poster Child for Retroactive Abortion" the title we give to troublemakers.

    I want the Aqueous Alimentary Quantum Processor DAC to be a real thing. Someone in Monaco should get on that.

    @Torq

    If they've managed to change the way you feel and behave then they did in fact get to you. But I get it, it was never necessary and it isn't fun anymore. Fair enough.

    However - if you tire of sailing and your monogamous Yggdrasil relationship I'm sure there are ways the S/N ratio in this thread could be improved, and maybe on this site in general.

    Life is too short to have to explain yourself to everyone. That said there will always be someone who'll bust your balls regardless. I can see this being mostly thankless due to that. At least we got what we got. Thanks for that at least @Torq.

    Apparently we mean this in two completely different ways.

    Though (attempted) point-scoring asshats are part of the issue here. Congratulations on that front.

    Stuff like this is a BIG part of the problem. What's the point in posting when what's said isn't read and/or comprehended? And that's clearly what's going on here if you think I only use/own/like Yggdrasil.

    Don't even have to go back more than two pages in this thread, let alone read any further, to see that this isn't remotely the case.

    @Torq

    I was trying to be encouraging and show support for your work but apparently it's not working. Fine... happy sailing.

    Just for fun, there's actually a dac called the Crane Song Quantum Solaris.

    (and not that it matters, but it's actually one that I'm curious to hear)

    Regardless of whether @Torq ever reviews another DAC again, I liked the earlier suggestion that this thread just be moved to The Club Room because it seems to attract the attention of internet trolls more that anything else on this forum.

    Thanks for the great reviews and technical information @Torq. I've learned a lot from your posts. This, as I keep saying is supposed to be fun. Pity the Internet has come to this state. It's almost as if people don't know how rude they are being anymore. And making the experience unpleasant.

    @Torq may i suggest you combine two relaxing and stress releaving activities? Sailing and keelhauling the porkers that get on your nerves! Can even be a fun family activity, take bets on who lasts the longest, though i reckon noone will touch Teach's record...

    I remember sending a pm to @Torq when he was still only creating this thread at HF expressing my admiration of his patience with the fuckwittery that it seemed to bring out of the woodwork. I am absolutely gobsmacked that it took this long for him to write it off. Fare thee well and happy sailing, torq.
