Just to entice people, here is Rhapsodio's FR graph for the Galaxy v2



With the right fit, these have more full and warm bass for me than the graph shows. I'd say these are a competitor to the Vega, with a less strong V shape that avoids the Vega's suggestion of sibilance on some songs, while definitely having a bit of harshness and sibilance on others. Vocals are clear and present in the mix and cymbals crash well. The bass and the treble match each other well and these iems really rock out. Classical sounds great. Extension is good above and below, as is detail (although falling short of high-end multi-armstures, but you get real air-moving bass and overall coherence as the trade-off).

The Vegas, which I don't have on hand for a direct comparison, have an edgier sound and therefore an edge on detail with more punch (and more bass), and more texture as well.

These are very fit sensitive, any air pressure or vacuum in the ear canal, or loss of seal, and the driver doesn't give you what it can really do. That's just a learning curve for this iem, not a mark against it. Without the full bass, the sound is quite treble-tipped.

I'll need to listen more before I send these off, but those are some initial thoughts after heavy burn-in.

Thanks for that review. It seems that maybe there's less return on investment for high end DDs vs BAs? Even the +1k DDs have their issues, whereas the Sony EX1000 and the JVCs are 400 USD and by some accounts are competitive at least with older generation ToL DDs. I've only heard the JVCs among more expensive DDs, in full disclosure.

Edit: Putting this hypothesis on hold till I've actually had a chance to hear a high end DD (the Galaxy 2).

 

I'll be back in the states for three weeks starting tomorrow and would love to give them a listen, if the timing works.
