These measurements correlate with what I heard from the microZOTL at CanJam. I was distinctly unimpressed with what I was hearing, despite liking what I saw visually. Glad my eyes didn't deceive my ears in this case.

I really want to hear that Laconic sometime.

@bazelio did you ask @purrin if you could post his measurements on HF? I would think that he wouldnt want to help out a community that has shit on him numerous times.

He did. I was actually more concerned for @bazelio as I didn't want Jude to be mad at him or for Jude to conclude that there was some concerted effort on the part of SuperBAF to "troll" him. Generally, my advice is to have SuperBAF content stay away from HF to avoid the wrath of HF management, and also because certain kinds of content (less than complimentary or objective measurements) are not well received there. But in this case, @bazelio made an excellent post and carefully explained the context of the measurements without even the slightest perception of him crapping on people. (On SuperBAF, we can be a little bit more direct and off the cuff because the readers tend to know each other better, and are more educated, experienced, and confident with their own audio choices).

And LOL, I am totally not like that!

They can shit on me and I just brush the shit off my shoulders. I'm totally used to this by now. There are always going to be people who don't like me or don't like SuperBAF. Nothing we can do about that. It's better to be magnanimous than petty. Although I admit I like to take potshots at Stillhart. But that's only because I've actually met Stillhart in person. :p

The second sentence in my HF post is:
I've received his (Purrin's) consent to post them.

    But thanks for your concern.

Love that attitude, and love your passion for the hobby. Big time props!

My bad - sorry bazelio. Should have read more carefully, or not assumed the worst. Its weird seeing SBAF stuff on HF, thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.

Marv, you're bigger than I am. I would not have let the information go as easily, but then again you are our fearless leader. Thanks dude.

    Magnanimous? More like vainglorious :p

    Just kidding :).

With regard to posting stuff to HF, there is NEVER a need to ask for permission. The only stuff you need to even reference SBAF for are mods that are protected by CC licensing requirements for attribution or private content/messages that clearly are restricted.

After looking at some measurements recently it was determined that the stock switching supply contributed significantly to the distortion, though, of course, not exclusively. I haven't seen measurements with a linear power supply.

The follow up, measurement using vintage 6SN7 black triangle plates. Little bit higher D2. Lower D3 and D5. Similar higher harmonic spurs, but slightly less in amplitude.

1kHz @ ~0.550Vrms (using /10 diff. probe) into 330 ohms. Vintage 6SN7 black triangle plates.

    The measurement looks better now.

Does the higher order harmonics contribute to a bigger sound stage? The mussette + microzotl2 pairing at canjam had a big soundstage to me.

For the uninitiated one of the ways to interpret a THD plot is like this. Ratio of even vs odd harmonics, usually you want the odd harmonics to decay with frequency quicker than the even ones.

Also place more weight in high order(higher frequency distortion) than lower order ones since they are much closer further from the original tone. Not exactly the case here in the first plot. Hope this help you guys.

Edit: Also 60hz plot is more like 50hz? Slight typo or error I guess, still can see the power line spuraie me thinks.
