    Sorry for the misunderstanding, I wanted to tell that I couldn't find better spatialization than the HD800 with the SDR mod. I wish I had such a 3D model in my laptop ^^.

    Awesome that Marvey ordered a pair. And the change of connectors is just NOICE, they are a very weak point from my point of view. The headband is kinda okay, but these connectors, man... Seriously ?

    I just got my M1060's! For any other Dutchies: I paid 360 dollars for the headphones+shipping and another 78 euro's to get them into the Netherlands. Will be trying them out tonight with the paper towel mod! Now I need my next paycheck to order the Vegan pads :p First impressions from phone listening (yes, even a phone can power them): much more detail in mids and highs compared to my fidelio X2's. Also less sibilance, which the X2's do have a little bit. I can't hear any 'ortho-wall' just yet. Less 'thick' bass than the X2 as well, but the extension in Dub songs is sick. I like the thickness though, so I hope the pad swapping and towel mod will bring that back a little! They would be mega then.

    Just got the M1060 and listening from Bifrost Multibit/jot. Nothing offensive so far and I'm hearing a lot of potential.
    The headband assembly is laughably cheap and as soon as I opened the case, there was a nasty stench of plastic/chemicals.
    On mine at least there is ZERO indication of which side is left and right. It's pretty obvious that the thick side of the pads goes to the back of the head, but someone new to headphones might be confused. What an odd omission.
    First impressions: better treble and soundstage than the LCD2.2F.

    The overwhelming smell of the M1060 is the treatment applied to the wood, which reminds me very much of how the LCD2/3 smelled.

    The smell of my v1 pair was the adhesive of the stock pads, it dissipated almost as soon I took them off. Smelled like rubber cement and I legit caught a contact buzz that first night.

    So, now that I have my M1060's, I want to also upgrade my DAC/Amp. Currently, I am using the SMSL SD793-II DAC/Amp. I love the imaging of the M1060's and I am definitely enjoying them over my Fidelio X2 when it comes to detail in the highs and the bass extension. But, because I am really used to my Fidelio's, the 1060's are very forward sounding to me. A bit aggressive in the upper mids, for lack of a better word. What DAC/Amp combo under 500 dollars would you guys recommend for a relaxed sound? I am currently leaning towards Modi 2 Multibit + Vali 2... But any other recommendations at this pricepoint would be awesome! In my book Dark=Good :)

    First of all I would recommend trying the paper towel mod to settings things down a bit around 1-2khz.

    Definitely, I still have to buy black paper towels though. But I'm upgrading anyway, I don't want to limit the potential of the headphones with a 50 dollar DAC.

    Hi pal. Regarding the setup I tried M1060 modded (paper towel + leather free pads) with MODI 2 multibit + VALI2 / LAKE PEOPLE G109. I tend now to prefer the solid state amp (G109) because it gave a more accurate sound. The extra warmth provided by the VALI2 is not bad, but I got a bit tired at some point (warmth + darkish sound is kinda too much for me). This is, for me, a general behavior when comparing hybrid/full lamp amplifiers verses solid state, but I also know that it's a matter of taste.

    I didn't mentioned the left/right thing, but I was also a bit confused at the very beginning. However, I thought that it was not important enough to mention it. Nice you did it though. What are you waiting to get your leather free pads pal ? ;)

    Vegan pads and paper towel will give you more sonic improvements than any DAC/amp, not tbat you shouldn't want to upgrade either, just an FYI.

    Ha! I ordered the Audeze vegan pads last night. It was a bit odd ordering $80 pads for $300 headphones, but since I like these more than the LCD2, spending $80 for sound quality that exceeds that of $1000 cans is not unreasonable. Anyway, that's my rationalization. :D

    Isn't it better to pay 380 for something you enjoy more than 1080 for something you don't enjoy so much?
    Were are truly consumed by consumerism (pun not intended). Think about the reverse if the LCD was 300 and the monoprice 1000 you would consider the investment of 1080 totally worth it.

    So in true you are in a very privileged position :).

    For me it's rather easy to consider: The M1080 costs 380€-400€. That's it ;).

    Prepping to re-terminate with a 4-pin xlr.

    Anyone know for sure if there's 4 wires all the way through? I can see green, red, white-- but can't see the fourth, asking because maybe it's snipped off and buried in the sheath. To find out I have to unsolder, strip it etc. Thanks!

    I need to start cross-posting more info here, I tend to be dumping in the HF thread just because it's more active. Here is some pad rolling with stock damping.

    Red=Stock
    Green= Angled Pleather HM5
    Gold=Vegan

    Purple=Hifiman Pleather
