In an effort to make this sub more useful and to prevent any kind of dodgy transactions, @shipsupt will be taking over as mod. He'll be posting a set of rules to the forum soon.

While I'm drafting, now is the perfect time for you to send over any comments, suggestions, and complaints that can help me make the SBAF for sale forum better. We're not looking to go all "Audiogon" here, we just want our little friends flea market to rock.

A clean way to leave buyer/seller feedback?

Not sure yet how we'll do it, but I think that's a must have.

What about the buyer/seller just mentioning in the for sale thread that they bought/sold said thing and that it went well? I guess this could be a little awkward if things didn't go well though... And would be hard to search for the buyer's feedback

If we can't find a native solution, we'll be proposing using heatware. I'd prefer a native feedback solution, though.

Can we have a way to mark closed sales, and make them appear below items that are still open?

It would be nice if all the feedback for a member could be found in one place.

Yessir. I'm definitely going to start closing sold threads, as soon as I figure out how to do that in this new forum software, I'm still a Changstar dinosaur. And then we need to get the old stuff out of the way, possibly an archive sub-forum...

Can you add visitor messages for profiles like on vB forums? If so, could edit it to be for feedback.

yes... that would be very nice, though the HF f/s boards aren't perfect so I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with

still the current boards aren't to bad, it might be nice to organize them into sub threads for specific kinds of gear, and maybe add a "feed back" section to the profile page were people can post comments to your feed back wall

that might be worthwhile, and I think were all mature enough here not to post stupid schiit on some one else's feed back wall out of spite ^^

I don't really think much needs to be changed. I trust people with friend status not to ram one up mine when buying from here, that's all there is too it.
I'm cool if you guys want to tack crap on like Head-Fi. The sales forums there suck though. So.

You may have noticed the clean up of SOLD threads continues. We should be pretty clean by the end of the week if I keep finding time to do the moves.

    So, discussion.

What do we think about IC, or interest checks? I have no real issue with them, except when folks put items out there for "IC" and then ask for offers it starts to feel a little like eBay to me... start bidding!?

I'd like to get some thoughts from the community on this one so we can address it in the FOR SALE guidelines.

Hmm. Mixed feelings. I normally post an IC to gauge the market for something. I honestly didn't know how to price my Bottlehead SEX since it was a DIY effort and I rarely see any on the FS threads anymore. Once you put a price into the IC, that effectively becomes the FS price. If we require prices, then we are pretty much getting rid of interest checks.

I agree that IC can get like ebay. I think someone should just toss out a price and see how it goes. If people don't think its worth it, they'll offer less.

I think it's reasonable to say instead of interest checks, sellers out up a price and state if it's firm or open to negotiation. I'm sure sellers have an idea in their head of what a fair price could be when they initiate the IC. I know that as a buyer a price on the page at least helps me ballpark things.

Idea proposal (please shoot it down if I'm crazy)

What about a single "Want to Buy" thread, possibly stickied? Then if you want to put up a WTB inquiry, you just post in that thread? Then if you find it (here or other places) you just edit the post to say you found it

My thought process is a WTB is going to have a lower probability to result in a transaction within our smaller community, and therefore the "WTB" posts won't be obscuring or diluting the actual "For Sale" posts. I've considered putting up a WTB before (and right now) but have held off mainly for this reason. I don't want to dilute for a WTB longshot.

Let me know your thoughts, or if I'm overthinking this
