Yes hifishark is awesome, even if just using it as a better search tool for headfi classified. I'll also add that doing an advanced search in eBay for sold listings is also really helpful

 

Proposing flipping and/or selling for more than what you've paid as a (temporarily) bannable behavior. Unless there are extraordinary reasons, such as violently fluctuating exchange rates, self-done upgrades, or a consensus price for OOP/vintage gear, NOTHING should be sold for more than what one has paid for it.

My behavior in this matter is impeccable and will not change. But I will never support a police state.

The one truly necessary reform is closing the FS forum to outsiders. There's much less incentive to give people a friend's price than there was at Changstar because we're dealing with total strangers now. It's time this problem was fixed.

 

I actually thought this forum was only open to Friends based on its parent forum.

I intended to use the For Sale forum similar to Barter Town on AudioKarma--I'm happy to offer a better price here than elsewhere in exchange for getting better prices here than elsewhere.

Now that I know it's accessible to others, I'm dropping my current listing.

 

Another way to tackle that problem is to have a friend only thread, where we can post the gear for sale at a friend's price. That's how we do on another forum.
