So I've managed to climb up the dynamic ladder without trying much in the way of planar magnetics (I've heard them, just not the flagships).

If I have the opportunity to borrow some flagships and can pick 2 out of 3 which should I pick? I'd be using Yggy/Raggy for this.

    LCD-4,
    Abyss Phi 1266 Deluxe,
    Susvara

I love my Utopia sound wise, but also think the Abyss sound intriguing so I'm leaning towards at least including them. LCD-4 is the one I'm kinda wishy washy on. Susvara seems good just horribly expensive.

Any advice for someone who is really loving Utopia? This isn't really for buying any of them, I doubt I'll want to give away Utopia, but want to have a fun experience.

@kitantisune haha very much so... Not sure how that happened, I had multiple tabs open.

    Hello everyone,

Found this forum web while searching for reviews on Denafrips DACs.
I have 2 frontends : a CAS desktop with HQPlayer on board and a sacd set of MSB UMT Plus universal transport + IV Plus dac. Recently using the MSB much more than CAS.
Looking forward to read members' reviews on Denafrips.
    Thanks!

Hi, just chiming in. This is my second audio forum membership. (I think you know which one is the first or you can easily guess). I hope people here are not as crazy as the people from the other side.

Music lover since my teens, came here mainly out of curiosity and looking for insightful recommendations...

I started with cassette tape walkman, then walkman CD, iPod. always with shitty earbuds randomly bought at the local store.
Than I got some budget dap: cowon J3, to rockbox sansaclip, fiio m3, always used shitty earbuds until I got some DJ Headphones thinking it was Hi-Fi..
One day I wanted to get something truly portable. look online on some thread; there was a guy talking about some cheap running IEM on aliexpress that sounded good. Found the monk+ instead, remember the time YUIN was the hype but I didn't had a credit card working for aliexpress back in the days... get it right away, astonished by the sound quality (especially the tonality) I got hooked and slowly and steadily fell into the hole. it's been a year now. I got a lot of stuff, on the budget side, i learned a lot about audio reproduction. My aim now is to buy less but better fitted to my tastes :p

Hello SBAF! Newbie here. Reddit caused me to go cross-eyed, and I got tired of the same back-patting I guess. I signed up here after lurking for a few months, and want to be able to ask questions and actually learn things, in hopes that one day Marvey will answer a question of mine, and my existence will feel like it meant something.

Briefly; I live in Nashville, am in the middle of adopting from India with my wife, and love music so much that my love of audio and gear naturally followed suit.

    Hey all,

Been lurking for a long time, figured it was time to actually start contributing. While most of my time in the audio forums will be spent trying to soak up knowledge, I appreciate that SBAF really seems like a community where people are brought together by their love of music/audio, but other common interests are also welcomed and discussed.

I look forward to being an active member to make up for lost time.

    Currently running the following: PC -> Wyrd -> Mimby -> Jot/Val2 -> Eikon/HD800.

    Hi,

Just discovered your site a few weeks ago when researching the Metrum Amethyst DAC. I'm not a headphone user, but appreciate the "golden ears" of a lot of you that are.
I've been into Audio forever - read Heathkit - and have built my own preamp and amps and speakers which I am using now. I know enough to follow a schematic, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to design.
I am into the Single Ended tube mindset, so I use Audio Nirvana 15" full range speakers with a pair of sub-woofers. In that vein, I kind of look at NOS DACs as an extension of that philosophy and years ago built a DDDAC 1543 converter before finding the Metrum Octave.
Refreshing to see a group that is mindful of both sides of the objective vs subjective nature of our hobby and I have enjoyed the intelligent and thoughtful writing.
    Best,
    Lou D'A - I guess I like it loud'a

    Hey, y'all,

I've been doing the audiophile headphone thing for a few years now, but my gear's nothing that impressive...I've listed most of it on my profile page if you're curious. I've done a little DIY stuff, but never that seriously, and it's been a while. Linux user, FLAC purist (in the middle of the long, draw-out process of ripping my old CD collection), and general tech geek. I generally listen to Early Music (mostly Renaissance & Baroque), old Jazz, and JPop, though I dabble in other genres.

I've been lurking for a while, but I'll probably be doing a lot more lurking in the near future...at least until I know I can contribute something. I really like the s/n ratio focus around here, but it does get a bit intimidating. (Not that that's a bad thing, of course.)

Hi everyone! Just joined, didn't even know this forum existed until last night when I was researching a new piece of gear (Schiit Eitr) that led me to a great thread. I used to be pretty active on the Computer Audiophile forums but switched to vinyl in December, 2015 and haven't really looked back. My gear is in my profile, and I am at least making an effort to bring the digital side of my playback chain remotely comparable to my analog setup. Glad to be here, see you all around the forums!

    Todd

Thanks! I tend to go through gear like socks but I'm starting to really find "my sound" and I am up to four components I have absolutely no intention to part with:

    The PolyTable
My Dyns (even turned down a very attractive offer to get Contour 3.1s but decided to stay with what I have)
Anthem gear, specifically pre/pros. I got the Statement D2 for $1k with ARC. I don't know how I could get a better, more feature-rich preamp for my needs for anywhere near the cost
NuPrime ST-10. I had one, sold it, now I have the upgraded one. I can't say enough about this amp. It's small, efficient, and has a sound I just fall in love with. It's so quiet, a quiet you don't quite understand until you've swapped out a more conventional amp for it, that detail and low-level information just pop out and really rounds out the whole experience. This was another "epic deal" on a used market. These things fly under the radar IMO, but more people should hear them.

    Hi folks!

I'm here to learn what I can, and contribute where I can. I've lurked off and on for a few months, and y'all seem more direct and discerning than people in other places.

Hi, being a newbie I like to introduce myself (wonder if this is the proper site ?,since I cant find out other option, pardon). For last 12 years I have been using tube-CDP(AhTjoeb, with upsampling, Amperec 7308x2) ; T5 tube Preamp(12AT7x2) and Hybride Power amp (12AT7x2) both by Audio Van Alstine ; SPKR: Zingali Prelude 4 (replaced with Analysis plus oval 9 jumper ); IC :Truthlink (harmonic tech) ; SPKR-cable: : Analysis Plus Oval 9 (single wire ). I listen to CDs(70%Classical, 30%Instrumental; Old fashion Jazz, Pop music) I like a tubey sounding for my system and for the past 12 years I have not done any tube-rolling, and just recently I have replaced all the 12AT7 by JJ with Genalex Gold Lion with significant sonic improvement /especially on BASS( I am a Bass-fanatic BTW). While contemplating buying Schiit Freya, just been wondering should I be replacing its stock tubes (to retain or even a proper tubey sound that I have always liked) or replacing the tubes on CDP ?? Therefore, I would appreciate very much of your opinions and suggestions . PS: should this of my self introduction be placed some place else, I would appreciate very much of the editor or staff-member to do it, since again, I am a website-moron . THANKS PS2: I am wondering by replacing my current Preamp with Freya ,would the sound become lean or very analytic ?? (these would certianly distasted me)

    Hi I am new member.
I got here following information about Metrum Dacs. I have custom made active speakers and I am very interested in the Adagio. I use Roon as software player and Sotm sms-200 as network player.

I am also into headphones and a Stax fan. I have Stax srm-727 amp and Questyle preamp, 009 headphones.

I am italian and live in Milan. I love riding road and MTB bicycles.
