    Hi there!
I use the 502 DAC option in volumio (dont have the pro dac either) and it works but I remember having to fiddle with setting too.
At first I got the ALSA error just like you. You need to reboot when you change settings more often than is indicated.
    Maybe this helps :

I updated my Volumio after posting yesterday and they now offer the option to select the 502DAC PRO in their DAC list as well.
    Can`t test it obviously.

I did send them a unit so that means Volumio has been tested.

    Cheers,
    Michael

hmmmm, I went on to used the digi pro driver cuz after going through the volumio code on github, the driver for 502dac or dac pro is basically hifiberry dac driver. Figured if that doesn’t work, then it’d be best to try digi. It only work for me after the 2nd switch to digi+ though, so it’s kinda weird.

Is there a better option than volumio for a pi streamer with touchscreen now?

[QUOTE="linh0983, post: 177087, member: 4774"I use 502DAC Pro with isolator Pi set master or slave ?[/QUOTE]

    Hi,
it is Ian's isolator board that you are using? What kind of PSU do you use to feed it? How would you describe the difference between 502DAC with and without the isolator board?
    Best regards
    Stefan

I want to say "again" I have been enjoying the 502DAC (coaxial to iFi iOne) very much since it arrived some weeks ago.

There is Rune Audio(another fork from RaspiFy just like Volumio), Moode and Roon for the pi as well. I know Rune works with the touchscreen and I haven`t used the other ones because they are not free. But I read many good things about them. I think you will get volumio to work with the 502pro if you stick to it. Like I said I needed to fiddle and reboot as well. I saw that they also added a first config function under the system tab. Maybe you should give that a go?
Edit: I forgot to mention JRiver.
You could also just go for DietPi and try stuff from there.

    Hey Michael,
I'm looking for a power supply or UPS module for my pi which have a soft-start and soft-shutdown function, in order to avoid the risk of SD card corruption in case of power failure or fast power-off.
The UPS Pico (or UPS Pico Plus) from ModMyPi will be just perfect for my needs; are there any problems in stacking this one over the Pi3 and then stacking the 502DAC over it (revision P3) ?

    Here the UPS Pico: https://www.modmypi.com/raspberry-pi/power-1051/ups-boards-1051/ups-pico
here the UPS Pico Plus: https://www.modmypi.com/raspberry-p...nterruptible-power-supply-and-i2c-control-hat

The 502DAC has only low profile SMT components on the bottom, max height of 2mm. The header and standoffs we provide set a mate height of 18mm. So as long as the supply has nothing over 15mm you should be good.

    Cheers,
    Michael

The Pi is the slave with the 502DAC and 502DAC Pro. That's why re-clockers won't work (and wouldn't do anything anyway).

    Cheers,
    Michael

EDIT: Looking at the links you sent I see that they use GPIO18 for IrDA. This will conflict with the use of that signal for I2S Bit Clock. You need to find out how to disable their use and disconnect the IrDA receiver.

    Thank you for the answer.
Apart the GPIO18 or heigh-related stuff, do you think there could be any problem regarding added noise or any signal degradation from this HAT to the 502DAC?

If you know other similar HATs but easier to use along with the 502DAC please share them with us!
(the automatic battery charge is very important for me)

I would not foresee any noise issues. The 502DAC uses a multi-layer PCB with full ground plane so it should not be susceptible to any noise pickup. Not a guarantee of course, but I feel confident you're safe using it. Naturally we would all love to hear your results!

    Cheers,
    Michael

I think I saw before Michaelangelo of Volumio mentioned that the SD card will not get corrupted because how the software was written.

    Hi,
It looks exactly like what I want to do. Is an RPi3 ->IsolatorPi->502DAC Pro. Does it works? I've tried briefly with an OdroidC2 but no sound. I will try several things and then change the Odroid with a RPi3.
Have you set the IsolatorPi in Master or Slave mode? Any other tips? Thanks.

I am wondering if there is any benefit if the LPS has dual outputs to connect both to the RPI & 502DAC vs just connect to the RPI (and let it power the 502DAC).
