Schiit Eitr Preview Thread

I just leave it on and plugged in all the time.

 

Sadly it halts/freeze's my PC when I boot up with the USB plugged in I've not had the time to trouble shoot what MotherBoard or boot up settings causes it, so there it is honestly... frankly I don't see how static will build up on the cable, every time I touch it I should be grounding it, either way physical wear and Tear to that single USB port is a real issue, I may just leave it unplugged PC side and switch between the 4 ports I have on that little PCB card, as that's easier to replace than the USB input on the Etir

 

Does it work if you leave the USB plugged in and switch off the Eitr? Flipping the switch is a lot easier than plugging/unplugging the cable.

 

yuuuup, soon as I unplug the USB things start to boot up... still again I'm not interested in trouble shooting the USB issue. I've got a 2 year warranty on the parts so here's to hoping in two years if/when it died I'll either have a GEN 5 dac that doesn't do this, or a new PC that also doesn't do this...

 

Lenovo by any chance? You might check in the BIOS and turn off boot from USB - that might help.

 

No, Gigbyte Mobo on a customer Tower Build, I've turned off Boot from USB, and set my C Disk drive and Optical drive as the ONLY two boot options

 

A lot of times boot priority can cause this issue. Try restructuring the boot order and as @GoodEnoughGear says disabling boot from USB should also help.

here's to hoping the USB Port just lasts! I'm not losing any more sleep or time trouble shooting this old tower...

 

Maybe plug a USB hub into the tower's USB port and plug (and unplug) the Eitr into the hub? You could wear out the hub's USB ports one at a time then dispose of it and start all over.

Guess I should’ve gone with silver Modi Multibit when I bought it back then.
Oh well, all that’s left to do now is to wait agonizingly for a black Eitr, or the lack thereof and go with mismatch stack.

Yeah, that’d be my last resort move.
Let’s wait and see and hope that schiit will make one in black like the modi.

 

From what I've read, they only make black ones when metalwork has cosmetic irregularities that needs covering up. So it's luck of the draw really. If the supplier doesn't f**k up, no black Schiit.

 

Would it be worth it to buy an Eitr if you own a Chord mojo, with an additional amp (Feliks Elise)? I mean really, how much of a better performance does it
do?
