To me the wyrd makes a difference in this order: DS Gungnir > Gungnir Multibit > Yggdrasil. And I do prefer using wyrd with both ds gungnir and Gungnir Multibit. If you got Yggdrasil, then don't bother.

One good thing, or bad, about wyrd is that it allows me to use two different usb cables with different flavors, and carefully chosen usb cables will add good taste into the system. Of course, you will have to spend more money on it.

So the question is: wyrd + 2 USB (~300 USD) vs only one usb cable (e.g. wireworld Pla 7 ~400 USD) vs belkin usb (6 USD)....It's really up to you.

Mac Pro 2014 running Audrivana lossless and a MacBook Pro of somewhere between 2009-2015 running Tidal. Different Yggdrasil's in both tests with the same results. I'm pretty sure @Bill-P had a similar experience with the Gungnir Multibit, but I don't want to put words in his mouth.

Give it a shot. More fullness/texture is quite desirable.

I don't bother with the wyrd in my Yggdrasil setup, but whatever you like the sound of, go for it.

@zonto i read that nothing specific to yggdrasil and wyrd in there thats why asking @drfindley as i respect his opinion bought the yggdrasil pretty much all on his and @purrin recommendation

I'm with @zonto here :) I don't see any point of putting a wyrd in your Yggdrasil system unless you're having usb issues that it needs to solve. But check that link if you want more info.

Meh? This is the only part I'd like to improve on Yggdrasil, to opposite direction = sharper. I think tube stage c
    ould do it.

Moved Yggdrasil into rigg in place of Gungnir Multibit Both USB Gen 5. Linux DeadBeef > USB ( gen 5 ) Yggdrasil > Bottlehead Mainline > HD 800. Difference is not subtle. Yggdrasil is much more resolving, smoother dynamics. And the bass, OMG the bass, layers and detail, like a whole new world opened up. There are alot of recordings that sound pretty close, but on anything well recorded ( Berliner Philharmonk Simmon Rattle Beethoven Cycle, Tool Aenima, Muddy Water Folk Signer, BT _ ), the differnce betwen the two Dacs is not subtle. I thought I'd never hear new sounds, in music I love again, boy was I wrong. I was planning to send the Yggdrasil back, I'm now looking at what else I can sell to justify the purchase. I'm only 50 hours into the Yggdrasil, so it's not even broken it yet.

Each component requires a separate shelf to sound best -and better yet, a shelf like that of VTi's BL-300/400 series equipment rack.
