Dude, come. I came on very low sleep today and it was totally worth it. Spend some time with the Studio and the BTA mod and be very happy you came.

Also, computers produce music? Huh. I thought it was just noise ;)

TMoney! Brought my Original Zana Deux to be looked at by Marv- he wiggled tubes and fired it up. Working! I left it for you to make sure you have plenty to listen to. Very happy that my amp did not fry. :p

At this point, we were all going to try to pow wow and meet up with you tomorrow. Although, just found out that I do need to shop for furniture tomorrow (today). But Studio and Zana Deux and other goodies will be there for you to check out...Bill agreed to pick up the Zana and return to me later if I could not make it.

Have to post some quick impressions and surprises. There were some twists and surprises.

Surprise: liked the Massdrop Fostex TH-X00 waaaaaaaaay better than an early meet prototype & also far better than the TH-600/900. Was a shocker to me. $399 or even cheaper used??? Wish it was more isolating/closed but looks, fit, sound, fun-factor = off-the-hook.

Hmmm: Campfire Audio Jupiters (Comply tips & Medium silicon tips) a bit too warm for me. Nice construction of the bodies but with short tips hard to get decent insertion.

Will make some more notes after some sleep but this was great for the people and quality and surprises.

velvetx: BIG props and thank you. Organizing plus loaners plus getting the space and stepping-up so much for the community.

zerodeefex: for picking up lunch AGAIN + all of the BTAmod-work + stepping up for the community. Thank you.

It's 4:30am and I just can't sleep. My mind is ablaze finally realizing what is sitting in my office. I realize this is really what I have been asking for. Basically everything from Eddie Current is available to listen to. I get dressed and head out. I get to my office at 5am the Gungnir Multibit is nice and warmed up so it's time to power on the ZD, BW, and Studio. It's time to tell the world from the ears of a complete noob what Eddie Current has done past and present.

Chain: Macbook Pro > Gungnir Multibit > EC amp > Hifiman Edition X

Black Widow: This amp is very special and it is what I started impressions with as I figured the best method of attack is to use the good better best method. This amp is very well done for it's price probably hands down one of the best amp at it's price point. The sound is amazing and I know from others opinions on the Edition X being a tad soft for female vocals I would say that this amp does a great job opening the HEX up a bit as it does a great job focusing on vocals while not sacrificing the highs (yes they are slightly rolled but not too much so as in previous cases versus listening to them with my Gov2) or lows. When it comes to the bass impact in say EDM or Rap music hands down this thing takes the cake above the ZD and Studio. Not to say the Studio and ZD are bass light but I would say they are more polite and much tighter.

Zana Deux: The best news I heard all day yesterday was the fact that CEETEE's amp had no problems and all is well (can't imagine what it would be like to have something of this caliber in the shop). Anyway in terms of sound I would say this is the entry point where you start hear the true Eddie Current resolution, details, and tonal balance. A little bass light for me but in terms of tonal accuracy, balance, and sound stage it is much better than the BW. It opened up the HEX even further than the BW and made the rolled highs to a point where it's almost unoticable. Female vocals screamed with body and emotion unlike anything I had heard on the BW. The mids were well emphasized and you could tell that the singers voice was slightly in front of the instruments carrying songs like "Superstar" by the Carpenters or "Hello" by Adele. Now where I noticed that the bass was a bit light was in songs like "Suburban Train" and "Ten Seconds till Sunrise" by DJ Tiesto. However, one thing I noticed was how much more details were coming out of the ZD. It's a small trade off but it's something where I would say creates a good balance. The BW can have EDM and Rap bass but overall the ZD is a better amp.

Studio: Let me come back to this I am fading a bit and really just enjoying listening :)

    No ZD:Super.

I disagree that the old ZD is better than the BW; I'd put them on par. The BW is technically superior in many ways, but lacks the magnificent, seductive vocals of the ZD. Also, the BW's roll off at the top end isn't significant. It maintains it's composure with the piccolo, violins, cymbals, etc. The air up there is really phenomenal.

Now, the ZD:Super, that's a whole different beast of an ampm

Did you guys roll in the WE417As and the PSVANEs into the studio?

I'll find out soon enough, but I'm curious if it was reasonably easy to change the driver tubes through the portals, or if you need to take off the bottom plate.

It's easy enough but not as easy as having them exposed.

Yes, the WE417As are great, but with the PSVANEs, it was too bloomy, so all 4 RCA black plates went back in.

I liked the "stock" Ratheons with 2 RCA black plates and 2 PSVANEs as well.

Which PSVANEs do you have? WR2A3 or WE275 or 2A3-T?
