Sony Z1R Loaner?

Marv if you're getting one, let me know.

The RM has taken a pounding against the USD (drop of 10%) and i know a dealer here who gives me pretty great discounts. Im fairly certain she can beat whatever price you get, and it would still be cheaper once shipping is included.

Shipping from here to the states is less than 100 bucks with fedex etc.

Just in case anyone's curious, its not that great of a phone. I think a L700 plus amp will be a better loaner. It just sounds so so different from the house stax sound.

I was surprised at Canjam listening to the Z1r on the full Sony system, the system synergy was Great.
I heard the Z1r at the last NY mini-meet & wasn't that impressed but with the full Sony system it was impressive.

 

Interesting. What was the setup at the NY meet?

BTW, I am also very interested in this loaner program. Strongly hope the opportunity is open for contributors as well

 

Agreed here. I hadn't heard the Sonys before, and they were the best thing I heard at the show. *Very* interested now in a loaner.

@Vtory: Sony had the Z1Rs running off of their new DAC/Amp, fed by their ridiculous gold brick of a DAP.

I was wondering what upstream gears were bested by sony's signature system (ta-za1es + nw-wm1z)..
I didn't assume sony's dac+amp were that good. And that's why I asked.

I will testify to how beautiful-sounding the Z1R, especially matched up with the Signature amp and/or the WM1A, is. Glad to hear that others on SBAF will get a chance to enjoy it.

 

I was considering getting the Sony DAC/amp but realized it didn't have universal voltage input. That would force me to use a step down transformer half the time which wouldn't be ideal. I read that would make the sound worse (dirty power?) though I have no idea if that's true or not. But I've also read that using a step down transformer for long periods of time can be harmful or dangerous. Too bad because it seemed like a great unit in my auditioning.
