    That's some nice info, thanks!
Magico uses carbon nano tubes for their speaker drivers.
Btw, what do you think about Ora's GrapheneQ drivers? Those look like the next big thing too

There is very little info of the construction.
    From their web page:
ORA uses the amazing properties of graphene in our proprietary nano-composite formulation to build unique, high performance loudspeaker membranes.

It could be that they impregnated tiny graphene flakes into a lacquer, which would be cheapest and least useful.
That is likely and I would not hold my breath for game changer results.

Or in fact have multi layer full sheet graphene, which would be very expensive to make and in theory have significant advantages over practically any other diaphragm material for a driver.
This could be the future of superdrivers next to modern ceramics (and diamond).

Isn't graphene highly impractical to manufacture at least for now? I know that Audax or some other company said that their mid drivers are made from graphene, which in the end turned out not to be the case.

I've found this about Ora's GrapheneQ drivers, go to page 129:
    http://www.gotomylis.com/

Btw, one of the Ora founders posted on the Head-fi thread about Xiaomi and said they were not doing their diaphragms with graphene, so I suppose they're aware of that.

This is indeed interesting. Cone surface made out of nanotubes is something to look forward to for sure.

Are those new Yamaha speakers really going for $15k?

I think I'll risk it with the NS-1000M's beryllium tweeters....

Health issues to be considered here, will cause delay.

Ultrafine particulates are bad enough, nanostructures are terrifying when it comes to long-term health.

Nanotubes ... improperly sealed nanomaterial high frequency air pistons are a very efficient delivery/diffusion system for what amounts to hyper-asbestos, insofar as lung/eye/etc soft tissue is concerned, no harmful biochemical interactions necessary.

Resilient coatings that don't just obliterate the valuable mechanical properties of nanotube materials is going to be to be a major industry all on its own.

I was tempted to get in on the ORA Kickstarter headphones when it started at $199 (currently at CAD$399 or about USD$320). However, I figured I'd wait because the driver cone is only one element and there are subjective factors in a headphone such as tuning, fit/comfort, etc. Also the technology is more interesting for loudspeakers than headphones, which already have alternative technologies such as planar magnetic, electrostatic, balanced armature.

It does seem promising and they are serious about their claims. They offer a development kit for OEM speaker manufacturers that includes a 3" prototype speaker: https://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/98612d_7759a59f91dd48588ff5ff0d0a428d15.pdf. See page 7, Success Criteria, for expected test results.

OhMyGod, health-hazard speakers! This thread is supposed to turn us on, not scare the living daylights out of us!
I like copper nanotubes. After a nice cuddle of course, @frenchbat

Be drivers should be fine unless you grate them and eat them though - don't, grate parmesan instead; cheaper, tastier and as a bonus it won't kill you

Sure are some pretty enclosures though, kinda buck rogers, 60s pulp sci-fi book cover aesthetics.

The speakers for someone with a chromed starship!

    Maybe grated berilium smells better?

Is this all a bit like tungsten carbide, fine to use, or even to wear, unless or until you take it to the grinding wheel?
