My wife's dad had a pair of 801's that I always loved.

She got in big trouble as a kid for gluing "googly eyes" to the front of them because she thought they looked like a pair of aliens. I always thought that was funny, although now I know I might strangle my kids if they did something like that to my gear. ;)

They are certainly more gorgeous than the infinite-baffle speakers I have seen, but then, they have been bare-plywood projects in progress. They would have counted as speaker porn, though, just for the ex-cinema vintage drivers their owners used. If only I had pics. No pics, no porn!

Wow - Don't think I've ever seen "bookshelf" speakers that weight 160 pounds! Makes the picture in the background kind of fitting in this case...

And I thought the Magico Q10's were crazy heavy. Then again, they're proper bookshelf size, but 27kgs each.

the mantaray and the 902-8b drivers on the model 14's will actually have the advantage over the 811/802-8g combo. the model 14's will not only extend higher but sound smoother doing it. the 902's are some of the smoothest sounding 1'' compression drivers i ever heard so far. believe it or not too but, the motor on the 12'' driver of the model 14 is much stronger than the 416 in the model 19. the bass driver for the 14's are custom built using a 16'' steel frame like their larger bass drivers but, was made into a 12'' driver so, the model 14 will handle bit more power than the 19's.

if i was going for the sectoral horns i would either try a 511b or 311b if can find a pair at reasonable price. 511's smallest i go personally but, enjoyed the 811's when properly bolted and crossed high enough. i really enjoy my friend's custom heath-ki set with the 811/902 combo and 416. also has a specially custom built model 19 like external crossovers for them but, will later on try going active on them. just i been using the active crossover for my EV HR9040/Altec 291-16k-/JBL 4648 combo at home so, when i'm done with it i loan the active crossover to him.

I was a little surprised I hadn't seen these posted yet.

Back maybe ~5 years after they were originally released, my dad had a friend who had a pair of the Nautilus each bi-amped with some a pair of Pass Labs monoblocks (maybe XA200?).

i gave these jbl 828's a test run yesterday at a sam ash and man don't they pound. defiantly gonna be picking them up. just for very little output they have a nice chest thump but, i know the crossover and tuning was set bit higher there but, me and the sam ash guys had fun and i defiantly woke them up from their nap and relieved there boredom. i know there nothing really to look at but, in person they're actually very pretty looking and nice and rugged for dual-18's. i plan on picking up the passive version since i always like using my own amps and i am not worried bout power either. i also get to tune it more to my flavor going passive route as well. never been fan of powered subs or powered speakers in general too much.

never heard of the 602's but, with the right crossover they probably sound nice. i only ever heard couple of altec duplex's and that was the 601c's and 604b's and thought they didn't sound bad at all. the 811 horns are very workable since i played with them a lot besides the 511's. while my friend couldn't tell the difference between the 811 or 511's at a certain crossover point, i always prefer the 511b's personally. i wouldn't mind building a small near-field set-up though with 811's. just think the model 19's are too big for the 811's. i think the box is perfectly tuned for the 416/515 woofers. just the horns seem somewhat out of place to me but, that's me. if you can find pair of model 14's for a good price i say give those a try instead if can. they work a lot better in more rooms and have more coverage area and more extension in the upper-air response.
