Super Best Audio Friends Leaderboard (out of date)

I take it some changes are needed here, especially in the IEM section. I propose adding Jupiter and removing Noble 4C. Also want to add HD439 for consideration. It's almsot as dirt cheap as the Koss stuff, but much better.

 

I think we can wait a bit for the portable stuff. I have a feel Andromeda will be up as well. The DAP compendium is still ongoing with Onkyo DP-X1 joining.

 

The Noble 4C has been discontinued and its successor, the Savanna has been heard by a few folks who say it's an improved update of the 4C thanks to some tuning tweaks. I'd say tentatively just update the 4C to Savanna.

Just about everyone who's heard both the Jupiter and the Andromeda favors the Andromeda (me included), so that could be a good addition.

Shilled n' hyped chifi fake ie800s that end up sucking could be a good addition as well.

 

Well I would contest the 4C when it first went up, and I certainly don't think the Savanna (or any of the new Nobles) are that good.

No reason Jupiter and Andromeda can't share the spotlight with obviously different signatures but both maintaining excellence.

 

Maybe you should also link to every year's SBAF awards? The leaderboard is not just some thread. It's THE thread for many people who are choosing new headphones/amps/DACs. While the SBAF awards thread is awesome, it doesn't explain why this or that gear was chosen for the VG category,etc.... It's about time we lessen the learning curve to SBAF don't you think?

 

I found the NVX XPT100's to have too high of a clamping pressure, but I think im just sensitive to that. My T50RP's are much better (with nvx pads)

 

Would Marv be adding Sony ZX2 into the leaderboard soon?

 

Likely and unlikely, his orgasm of ZX2 seems to be limited with Campfire Audio IEMs. Synergy between DAPs and IEMs is surprisingly important.

Say, since @Marvey said he doesn't care about us anymore... sniff... perhaps one of the other golden ears on this site could take up the mantle of maintaining this chart... any volunteers?

 

Would be interesting to see an updated version of the leaderboard!

To keep things easier to manage, maybe the same illuminati that decide the Golden Schlongs can agree during the same sitting on a yearly adjusted leaderboard?

I four one found the leaderboard of the old to be one of the most useful parts of the site!

 

The only downside I see is that at the rate of 3 Schongs a year it will take more than a decade for a similar leaderboard to be produced and by then the shlongs from the firs years may be a little limp or out of the market.
