I may actually be interested in it haha. Would kinda like a full schiit stack, but I'm not opposed to mixing and matching components. I'll PM you if something comes up, and I get committed to finding an iFi?

If I went to the Mjolnir how much would a SE vs balanced make a difference coming from the Modi Multibit. I don't mind paying the 800$ or so after selling the Valhalla, but paying the $900 and then 100-200 for the cable from Mr. Speakers for a minimal difference is why I am confused.

Or use the Johenheim and grab the balanced cable?

    Thank you for the responses

Regardless of if the DAC is SE or balanced, there are notable improvements using the balanced headphone out versus SE out. IME besides raw power, it has better separation, hits harder, sounds wider, lower noise floor, and is just overall a bit clearer. It's not night and day but it's also not negligible. SE works in a pinch, but with a (presumably) expensive MR. Speakers headphone, it's definitely worthwhile to get a cable. If unwilling to DIY or reterminate, you should be able to beat the price of the MRspeakers standard cable (and especially the DUM) elsewhere.

Edit: Just noticed it's Ether flow, my first headphone with Mjo2 was regular Ether and all above applied.

Would you have any cable recommendations that for the Flow balanced?

I DIY most of my cables these days, but I've used bestintheverse, Hivemind cables, Impact Audio Cables (etsy), and Norne (expensive, long wait, awesome tho) all with great results. Those are all "made to order" cable makers with varying lead times. I'm unaware of any "already made" third party MrSpeakers cables since they are so specific and niche, but they could be out there. Used on Head-fi, audiogon, usaudiomart, eBay....etc may have some as well, I've both bought and sold several Mrspeakers cables before.

I'm sure others have recommendations as well

And now for something completely different:

My wife often has the TV on while she cooks. However, in our current place the kitchen is pretty far from our one TV so she ends up having the TV pretty damn loud which is unpleasant if I am home. Does anyone know of an inexpensive device that would let me take an aux out from my receiver and transmit it wirelessly to a small speaker in the next room? I think the distance is too far for Bluetooth to work well (~25-30 feet?), and it's too finicky anyway. Just want something reliable so that she can flick on a speaker and maintain a reasonable volume in the kitchen without having to watch it on her iPad. Does not need to be hi-fi. I'm looking for <$50.

Sounds like it COULD work, but they say 'up to 30 feet', so you may get some fizz out at that range.

Not sure you're going to find any non-bluetooth solutions for under the $50 range. There's also the dumb, ugly, but easy solution of just getting a really, really long aux cord.

I am having an issue of intermittent sound on the right side on my HE400S headphones. It only happens with a balanced cable that I have not with the stock cable. I use this cable with other headphones with no problems. Has anyone else heard this problem or any thoughts on a fix?
    Thanks.

If it's just with the HE400S you're having issues with the balanced cable, then it's probably down to tolerances in the alignment/construction of the headphone-end of the connection (which I think is a 2.5mm TRS connection). You can try comparing the way the right-connection on your stock cable and balanced cables line up and see if there's an obvious, visible, mismatch there. You can also check the insertion depth at the headphone.

With the balanced cable, if you swap the left and right connections on the headphone-end does the issue move to the left side?

So I have been on the fence about buying a $1,000-$1,500 tube amp for months.

Then I noticed something. The Little Dot I+ puts out 800 mw at 32 ohm. That seems really high:

Anyone heard that amp with the LCD-2? Its like $90 so I am not out much money if its not very good.

seems like a $90 side or down grade from your Little Dot ii+ ? 800mw aint no thang-
Vali 2 puts out 1000 mw at 32 ohm.

save your $ and await a big boy tube amp. or go middle ground for a hybrid like Mjolnir2.

My Little Dot ii+ is over 10 years old now and its damaged and doesn't work right. I should probably take it out of my sig. In fact the reason I started to buy headphone crap again is because the Little Dot ii+ broke down.

It only happens on the right. Looking at the connectors the balanced cable connectors are a tinny bit longer almost not noticeable. Pulling on the connector it settled in and seams to work now. Seams like the right connector is just a little shallower then the left.

So I have a pair of HE 560s and K612s, I am looking for a hybrid tube amp that matches well with those headphones, I would like to keep it under 300$ and I live in Denmark so only EU things. I will be getting a pair of NAD HP50 and an Audio-GD NFB11 in the near future.

So the Fiio X5 2nd gen has been dropping like a rock in prices thanks to the new version. At $185 brand new currently, is there really anything else to consider in the $200 range?

What headphones will you be driving? If they are IEM, get the Cowon Plenue D. Hundred hours of battery life, play, slide it in pocket, forget. Lot of fun with BBE as well.

Mostly IEMSs, maybe my over ear Momentum version 1. The hiss isn't noticeable with really sensitive IEMs are they? Was probably going to buy a custom sometime soon unless I settle on the Noble X.

I have customs, sensitivity 123 dB, no hiss (although impedance is pretty high at 41 Ohm). On HF someone runs with the hiss king se846 and claimed there's no noticeable hiss.

Momentum will be fine for the Plenue D. If you are planning to plug in say hd650, or even PM3, won't work well.
