    Random synergy question:

    Bifrost Multibit + Jot + Audeze LCD-XC
    Bifrost Multibit + Mjo2 + LCD-XC

My Jot hasn't arrived yet to compare but I don't know if the store owner will allow another 1hr listening session to headphones without buying something next time lol

I found the LCD-XC really harsh in the upper mids/treble, so Mjo2 would be the better amp in my opinion.

Boy the Jot is a bit congested in staging, and so is the LCD-XC (I don't like it, and real disappointed I didn't) I would think the Mjo2 would help more, plus allow for some sound tweeking...

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a amp/dac combo specifically with a Toslink & XLR inputs/headphone out that is also reasonably cheap?

The Schiit Jotunheim is absolutely perfect, except it doesn't has toslink connection (I plan to use this for my TV which only accepts Toslink connections).

I don't specifically know what you are doing with the TV (games, movies ... just television shows?) but if the jotunheim is otherwise perfect, why not get a jotunheim with no modules and then get a Modi 2U, and use that as the connection to TV? I understand the appeal of balanced everything, but that (typically) matters more for amps than dacs.

    Late night tv/movie watching.

I hate the idea of having two boxes with two separate extra power cables jammed into my already jammed packed power strips & horde of cables.

In honor of our temporarily fallen comrade, @Psalmanazar, I recommend the Emotiva Stealth DC-1 in his stead. Has everything you want, plus remote control.

I think he wants XLR inputs as well for use as an amp, I believe, not AES in? Could be wrong.

Please don't need XLR cause "Balanced". It doesn't matter, especially for interconnects, unless you have 10+feet runs.

    Guys,

I'm tempted by the Audio GD NFB-1 AMP to replace my Mojo 2 (with stock tubes). Their Polish agent has them on sale for 400 Pounds which is the best price I've seen in Europe.

Would this be a downgrade? My dac is the Modi Multibit and HD650 is my only headphone.

    Thanks

The nfb-1 does many things, but the Mjolnir2 does one important thing. I haven't heard the nfb-1, but I've heard the Mjolnir2 and it's great. Agd's typical design philosophy (put all the shit you can think of in there) doesn't typically work out very well. I have always been wary of them because of this. If you are looking for a possible upgrade, I would save for a new DAC.

I wouldn't call it an upgrade, or downgrade for that matter. They are very different amps.

But most important what are you missing now or trying to get by investing on the AGD?

Sounds terrible though. I gave mine away years ago.

    @Thenewerguy009

Only using it with your TV? What do you need the XLR inputs for?

Audio-GD NFB-1.38. You see, I don't hate AGD. If you like the Jot, a small Toslink to Coax box might be a more cost effective add on option.

Jimmy did a comparative review of the DC-1 vs Gungnir DS on Changstar. Search, it should still be there.

NFM-1.38 has 10 ohms output impedance. Will result in more bass with dynamic driver headphones or softer sound with planars and dynamics.

Isn't the Jot's DAC USB only?

Looking for a copy of the Dave Matthews band Lillywhite sessions in flac format. If anyone has a copy or a link where I can purchase I'd really appreciate it

Have you checked the Dave Mathews Band site? He has a store front with his albums available in flac, though I'm not familiar with the Lillywhite sessions.

Might there be an improvement going from a GO2A∞ to Jotunheim out to my HD650's or should I just stick to the balanced out of the GO?

Also, how good of a preamp might it be for a 2 channel setup?

    Thanks!

I'm wondering if it would be goofy to upgrade from a Mjo2 to a Bryston bha-1. I'm enjoying the Mjo2 but if a few hundred bucks more would add some depth to the soundstage while keeping most of the Mjo2's impact, then that's worth it to me. The Dac is a Gungnir Multibit.
