Glad you like 'em. Now do yourself a favour and run away from all these forums before the hobby becomes a money sink!

@Armaegis I saw your Nuforce ha-200 review in HF and you seemed to be pretty impressed with it. My own unit performs admirably, throwing a warm sound with good soundstage and pairs well with hd-6xx and k7xx. However comments from changestar weren't so favorable (which is okay). Do you continue to hold the HA-200 in high regard (I guess you must have changed your gear a lot in the past 2 years)

It's been a while now, and competition gets stiffer every year... but I think it pops up on massdrop these days for cheap prices so I think it's still worthwhile there. I actually have a replacement jack module that bypasses the output resistors if you or anyone wants it. Just toss a couple bucks my way for shipping.

I really enjoyed reading your review in HF. I don't live in the US, so shipping's going to kill it for me, thanks for the offer though.

In Berlin the Headsound Stand had this Brainwavz HM5. I randomly decided to give it a listen. About five minutes later I decided to buy it. They gave me a good deal.

With stock pads it has just the right tonality and sound for me. It reminds me of a closed version of the HD600/650. With the angled ear pads it becomes even smoother like a HD650.

Good headphone if you like a smooth sound and comfort. It is really comfortable.

Where would I get decent but cheap caps, resistors, and inductors for a speaker crossover?
I need to redo the 40+ year old crossover in my dahlquist dq-10.

Thanks. I am in the middle of gathering parts to build my own rig but I may order that one as a comparison.

If you don't have a local parts shop, then it would be reasonably easy to find everything you'd need at Parts Express. However, you could also find everything you'd need on Mouser or eBay*. I buy a lot of my parts from Sonic Craft, but their budget selection is significantly worse than Parts Express**.

*There's usually more than enough new parts on eBay.
**I do find they'll occasionally have the best prices on the premium parts.

I'm not sure what caps and such are good for a crossover. I know all the values and such, but I don't know what ones are good

@spwath You might want to post more specifically in a DIY or speaker-building thread. I'm thinking guys like @JeffYoung and @Cspirou might have good advice for you

I like the VSonic GR07 - You choose your poison on the model. I personally use the BE for the Gym. They have surprisingly held up for about 5 years of gym use. The P1 is too awkward for the gym personally. They need deeper insertion and the metal shells touch my ear. Plus they are heavy and the cable is bulky. Don't use anything that has a filter either unless you like babying your equipment after every gym session.

@monacelli - I do more full range drivers, no crossovers!

Dayton Audio is usually good value. parts-express as mentioned by @Daveheart is a good supplier and I like Madisound too. You can go stupid expensive with Jantzen and Mundorf. Here's a post that talks about different caps:

    http://www.humblehomemadehifi.com/Cap.html

There's also a thread by around here that talks about cap rolling.

But yeah, if you are trying to save money I would avoid going to audio DIY suppliers and use general electronic component suppliers like Mouser, Digikey, Arrow, etc. Avoid using electrolytic caps as crossover components.

What is a good type of cap to use then?
I kinda have the opposite of a full range here, with a complex 5 way crossover...

Audyn Red and Jantzen Superior are good reasonably priced caps.

I used fancy caps forever and Marv clued me into the audyn c4 (red) series. Really good performance for the price.

Don't look too expensive, that's good, I need 8. One issue, I cant seem to find them in the exact values I need. How important is it to be spot on?
    I need and 80, 16, 6.5, 8.5, .1, and .15 uF caps. I saw 82, 15, 6.8, 8.2, and .1 uF caps. Not sure if that's close enough...

Depends where they are located. Sometimes it's really critical and sometimes it's not. If you really need an accurate value you can always wire multiple capacitors in parallel or in series to get the value that you need.
