Code-X is probably your best bet if you find one. Otherwise the HE-6 is good, but you'd have to get into a powering it with speaker amps etc, or you can use it with the iCan Pro, which would be an upgrade over your HE-500.

Found almot new HEK V2 (July 2017) and when the seller dropped the price to $1800 I could not resist. I had chance to listen to HEK v2 few months ago and loved it. So, as my wife said, I am finished, at least for a while

 

These look awesome, so tempted but they're probably too big for a desk setup.

 

Hah, well as a card carrying member of the HE-6 nuthouse, yeah don't follow in our footsteps. For most people I would say the HE-500 is the best value in the lineup. But hey, the HEKv2 is nice too.

Now if only someone could get their ears on the revamped HE-5...

Clearly the solution is simply to get a bigger desk (front port makes placement slightly too)

I only listened to them briefly at a meet out of my Ragnarok, but I thought they sounded pretty terrible with a disjointed/un-cohesive FR both open and closed. I don't think I would pick them over a portapro or emu purpleheart regardless of how low the price drops.

I really enjoy Brad Mehldau "Where Do You Start?".

I just got Louis Andriessen - La Commedia from their flac store and am really enjoying it. It's opera/jazz/avante garde and not like anything you've heard most likely. Pretty accessible too.

 

I had a feeling that would be the case. Wonder if there is any modding potential.

Does anyone know anything about Satori drivers? I like the form and the front port, I will contact Dennis and see if I can go by and listen.

 

I'm sure you already know this, but just in case, they're SB Acoustics' flagship line of drivers. By ex-Scan-Speak engineers that left after the management buyout. I'm listening to a lesser line of SB Acoustics midwoofers right now and loving it.

I’m not very smart, so I didn’t know anything about SB Acoustics. I appreciate you dropping knowledge. I guess my question is why would somebody commission these as opposed to just ordering BMRs?

 

Because they might not like the sound/voicing of a ribbon tweeter and BMR midrange driver. After owning a pair of BMR's I realized I much preferred the coherency of traditional woofers and soft-dome tweeters.

 

FYI, Dennis said he sold those Satori monitors within about 5 minutes of posting them.

 

I thought the HE5 was ultra rare? Is LFF still making the Code X?
