I would really appreciate to know this as well. By purchasing the Analog 2 and USB Gen. 5 upgrades to an Yggdrasil purchased near release, are we getting all the same features as the B-serial Yggdrasil’s?

Yes, I read the relevant post Marvey made subsequently. Thanks for the confirmation @Marvey . I ordered both upgrades.

In some cases, American usage is the old British usage that they took with them and maintaned. I believe -ize is one such. The Brits changed to -ise. -ize, the original, returns across the Atlantic and us Brits go "Shock horror: American English!"

On that basis, I don't object to -ize :D

I know I'd be super pissed if i bought Yggdrasil in November only to find out I got $800 of upgrades for free.

Well maybe not about the money, but imagine the mind-f*#k those people are going through right now clueing into the fact that they were listening to a different Yggdrasil than almost everyone else. I definitely would not want to be one of those guys - nope, no way man, that's way too messed up.

I think you're severely underestimating the ability of the human mind to post-rationalise just about anything.

It seems to me that Jason would be a better recipient of that request, than Mike.

    Just say'n.

I agree that the website isn't consistent about providing in-stock status for each item. However, Jason has posted several times that the website isn't always up to date, and advised e-mailing [email protected] for latest status. In particular for the Analog 2 update, it also about getting in the service queue and other workload. Whether the board is in stock won't give you the full story.

Still can’t see as the norm from a torn retina and now all this troll and trill (troll shill) crap. Three down two to go including one I’m really f'ing with.

Sorry. Did you have laser treatment? A friend did, and it did not sound like a fun time. On the other hand, her damaged retina was discovered almost by chance. A very lucky chance: a hell of a lot better than loosing her sight.

    Hoping you fully recover soon.

I'd imagine your sense of humour was stretched with the low SNR dialogue, whilst dealing with surgical recovery.

Keen to read your next post on tech stuff but personal health first.

I also had a retinal tear caught quick tacked down with laser. Best wishes for full recovery.

In the meanwhile, @atomicbob's Yggdrasil V2 measurements and a growing body of listening reports show how @baldr's best keeps on getting better. Amazing, a lesson to all of us engineers not to rest on our laurels and keep pushing for better. Can't wait for my upgrade to reach the head of the (long) queue!

@baldr, @schiit --> Better start bugging Roddy (ADI) for a 23-bit AD57101 -- for the next Yggdrasil upgrade in 2-3 years!

Roddy designed the AD5791, AD5781, and AD5547 for Analog Devices

It would be interesting to hear what Mike Moffat has to say about newer and higher bit rate DA chips, but one thing I’ve gathered from reading Mike’s posts here and at HF is he chases great sound and not specs. My Gungnir Multibit at “only” 19 effective bits is very impressive sounding.

Oh I'd say Mike looked at specs on those chips big time, the INL/DNL/ENOB thing, whole reason for using them... I made up the 23-bits, for a nice round number of 24-bits when balanced. Probably not possible without the chip being in a temp-controlled housing or crazy expensive (those are a thing in exotic test equip and reference standard clocks.) Half joking about contacting ADI, lol.
