Decided to hold off on buying the plexiglass until I put the speakers on the stands and see how they sit. Nobody but me is going back there, so it might not be needed.
Cost of 2 cut to size smoked plexiglass pieces is $50.74 plus shipping.
    (2) 10" X 12"

Had to order another set of Canare XLR Cables to go to the subwoofer

This is about your Modi Multibit i2s input mod thread. They don't like me out of my cage.
So are you saying that the USB inside the Modi Multibit is killing the Coax connection to a certain extent? Even though it is not being used at the time. I use a SingXer SU-1 USB Bridge to go into Modi Multibit with Coax. Trying to understand the improvements of removing the USB out of the Modi Multibit equation. Mega improvement with my SingXer SU-1 with Modi Multibit.

I was wondering if you were going to add some horsepower to those Koss ESP-950s into the RCA inputs? (eg: some amplification, maybe tubes)

Your cage, too funny :D anyway:

There are 2 independent i2s lines*, into 2 different GPIO interfaces on Mike's DSP (megaburritofilterwithguac) so you are good.

    *1 for USB, 1 for coax/toslink

    Detail here:

    Rock and Roll intro....

I was born in 1957. So when I was old enough to understand music,,,,,, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones were the top bands of the time. The Beatles were the favorite of everybody and the Rolling Stones were the favorites of the more hardcore of the bunch.

As time went on.... things change into this almost smooth type of sound bands. Not sure that I liked what was happening. It was a trippy kind of era that made music a place where melting your mind was in. The roots of Rock was diminishing. Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, and many more were dominating the scence. Then came Jethro Tull and things started to turn. Led Zepplin came out and stood the world on fire. OMG, Things started to even get dark with the band Black Sabbath. They came to my High School, along with many other mentions that I have talked about in this diatribe of the evolution of Rock. Being an early Hippie, I was engaged into the Rock culture. I used to wear necklaces that had Hippie little figures called "Happy Hippies" from my neck. It was a way to tell the gov that we liked to live live our way, and you have no influence whatsoever over our lives. We were proud of that. The government could kiss our ass. We did it our way. Full of love and friendship with each other.

So the Led Zepplin movement brought great things to Rock. Other bands found some chords and singers to get the ball rolling. Also let's not forget Jimi Hendrix. But he was in a box all by himself at that time. No one could build on his music. He was so far ahead of things that it still hasn't been figured out. Pink Floyd brought more to the table. Symphony. OMG, Coldplay is bringing it again with their new album and the lead song "Hypnotised". In this new 2017, this song is far and away a mainstay of the Pink Floyd peroid, and a testament of the progress that Coldplay has with their great talent. They are a force in this new age.

So it is done with the talk of Rock at this piece of Stage One.
I will delve into the roots of my experiences of the crazed past of my life.
To say it was wild is an understatement. Off the chain times ten.

One of the members showed me a link to a mod for the JBL LSR308 speakers. When the website crashed last week, it seems that the post got lost. Could that member help me out and post the link again. Thanks.

    Edit: Found it......

I'm pretty excited to get this JBL 3 Series system going. Just re-wired the whole livingroom today and made room for the stands I bought to go right next to the Martin Logans. The JBL subwoofer is going right in front of the Krell amp/Freya preamp stand. At $659 shipped it seems like a cheap thrill that I could not ignore. Rock is better with JBL. Me thinks.

    It's an entertaining read right?

I'm a pragmatic and willing to let bygones by bygones. It's pretty hard for me to hold a grudge against people, unless they pull off unforgivable deeds such as using my name to steal, I mean borrow, from other people, or asking me to lend them a huge sum of money when they had no intention of paying me back accordingly to a monthly schedule that they agreed to, treating themselves to goodies while putting me on last priority.

It's just really so strange to me. Very interesting reading.

I am surrounded here in the Bible Belt where everyone has manners that are so unexpected. I was at the 7 Eleven today and I spent so much that my credit card declined. Someone behind me paid the $15 for my order. She said to me: "you shop in my store all the time. Here you go, and paid for my order". I live in another world.

I kinda flattered that I got a mention of my lighting pursuits. My engine bay in my FRS even has lighting.

Just finished hooking up the lighting from the left to the right side of the livingroom. Remotes still work from 20ft in my office. Getting ready for a listen and making sure that the new wiring is on cue. JBL system is ready to be installed.

The blue lighting (I prefer) looks killer coming from under the Krell KSA-200S amp and behind the REL subs. It lights up the fireplace and make an ambience that relaxes. Last night I feel asleep in the livingroom for the fifth time. Kind of a drug.

But. @Big D Design ... the LSR308s are powered speakers, so power amps, humble or huge, are out of the picture. Can you accommodate that in your (remind me not to pronounce the G) paradigm?

My head-fi password seems to have got dropped, due to an accidental cookie clearance. I probably have it recorded, but the site is just not worth reaching out to the shelf to pick up the book where it might be written, certainly not worth gong through the lost-password routine. So I don't consider myself a member any longer. But head-fi antics as observed on SBAF: well worth reading!

I have been watching this JBL Pro 3 Series since it came out. It is the little mite of their reference Studio System JBL M2 Master Reference Monitor.
Here is a link to the JBL 3 Series and there is a link to the right for videos and the 2nd and 3rd videos are worth a watch

I'm interested in this sheet. Cost so little, and if I don't like, sell for minimal loss. I need a dynamic setup in the Labs (Livingroom). The stands I bought should really be perfect to put a Dynamic Speaker on. So as time goes on.... I can run my Krell KST-100 thru some Dynamic speakers in a short setup time. Just finished last night the perfect wiring for two decicated Power Outlets and space for speaker stands. Changing from Martin Logan to JBL will be as simple as taking the XLRs out from the Freya and plugging them into the JBL 3 Series Subwoofer.

I don't expect a miracle, by any stretch. Worth a shot to test them out. Very curious as to see what cheapo can bring to the table with a powered balanced XLR studio system.

I would love to one day have something like these on my fancy speaker stands......

Not an audiophile system. But an interesting unit, that was just released this January. JBL seems very proud of this one. So I imagine that it must have some merit.
Here is the very interesting brochure for the M2......

    Koss ESP-950 Electrostatic Headphone
Vesper Pad Mod (Leather and Alacantara)

    Initial Review and thoughts......

The Koss ESP--950 has the goods. I have the Koss system setup with my Asus Xonar D1 sound card. It's a good little piece of kit. Burr Brown DACs. Dolby. DSP. Great sound coming out of that card. It goes from the Asus Xonar Front Headphone outputs to my Quinpu MK-6000 Tube Amplifier. Then we are out to the Koss ESP-950 Box. It seems too lite to be an amplifer. Who knows what the hell is in there.

The Quinpu MK-6000 could only be turned up 1/3 volume before the whole system would clip the Koss headphones. Started messing with the volume controls on the Koss Control Box. They are weird. A double control of left and right into this really hard to change the volume knob. You can do it. Just a pain that should'nt be necessary. I got things balanced out and do not touch the Koss box at all anymore for volume adjustments. Nor do I touch the Tube amplifier. The volume is now adjusted thru the Asus Xonar D1 Volume Control. Pic Below of me running Foobar 2000 with my Xonar D1. You will see the volume control. Works quite well, and it is a pleasure now to listen to the Koss ESP-950.

    The Sound.......
Personally I find these spot on perfect. Don't find any flaws in the reproduction of my favorite tracks. Hot damn, I really stepped in it. Being an electrostatic guy with speakers, I had hopes for some sugar. Sure enough, it's a very good headphone. Pleasant low volume listening is so enjoyable. Every little nuance is there. These have the Vesper Pad Mod. They are such a good upgrade and worth the extra coin. I put the Vesper Pads on right when I took the Koss out of the box. So I don't know how the stock pads sound. Vesper Pads are just all day comfortable, and with the nice electrostatic sound coming out of these cans, you will be satisfied with easy listening type music. Haven't tested other types yet. I'm a believer in the fact that electrostatic speakers excel with certain kinds of music. And I don't have any unrealistic expectations that they can be the one and only headphone for a music lover.

So the initial thought is hot damn, these cans are da bomb. Very impressed. Can't find a flaw.

In the last decade even my speaker dreams were mostly bounded by what would fit on a small desk, but yes, dreams also extended to big houses, and those speakers have crossed my conciousness.

Before gave up the audio dreams, they had got as far as Geithain and Amphion. I chose the latter to be my dream passive speaker.

There are all kinds of formulae, beliefs and dogma about how to distribute money among audio components: for me, speakers take the priority. If I had money to pour, but not enough to pour on everything, I'd spend thousands on speakers before upgrading the electronics. Maverick, I know...
