There are my images I took. It's a Stanton 680EE Cartridge.

    ________

I was wondering, if everything was setup properly? I could not for the life of me find proper tracking force for this cartridge.. and I have no idea what the "Spherical/Elliptical/CD4" Knob is. I would assume Anti-Skate? I set it to what the tracking force is (On the Ellipt side/Top) was this right?
    ________

The picture of the tonearm (At bottom), was taken when it was playing. (Adjust the weight of the tonearm using knob in back, and that "Tracking force meter" is what changes. So it has a built in scale. When the tonearm is placed in it's holder, there is a little button that presses, and determines weight.

    ___________

I honestly wasn't sure exact setup specs. That's why I am coming here, I want to make sure everything is looking good, before I damage any records or anything. And yes I'm aware the stylus is a teeny bit dusty and so is the brush.

I was looking into upgrading to a Shure M97xE as I don't have much money. (No more than $100). And that just meets my budget. Any opinions?

    _________

I am a newbie to this forum, so if there are any issues please let me know, I was reccomended here by an aquantince.

You need an owner's manual. Here's one for an 877, which may be similar:

    http://www.vinylengine.com/library/philips/af-877.shtml

There is also a service manual for the 777 at VE, that may be sufficient to explain the workings of your deck. At any rate, bookmark 'vinylengine', it's a goddamn treasure trove of info for 'previously used' TTs. Also, you'll have much better luck asking over there, or at Vinyl Asylum, about a specific, old, turntable-the talent pool may not be as deep, but it's spread much more thin.

Since you're a TT 'newbie', you need to do your own google research for the basics of setting up a turntable, arm, and cartridge, and then come back here for very specific questions. Start with 'Michael Fremer, turntable basics', and keep going from there. Stop playing your records until you have your deck set up properly. There is way, way too much involved to even begin to indulge one person who hasn't done basic homework. Not to sound harsh, but the powers that be at SBAF, and me too, are all about a high signal/noise ratio. We're here to help, but you've got to show some initiative. Vinyl is tons of fun, and sounds fantastic, but you need to enjoy, or at least put up with, a lot of finicky bullshit. Have fun and good luck!

And finally, if you haven't introduced yourself yet, make that your next post before you get yelled at by someone much more senior than I am.
