I wanted to get some opinions on how much difference turntable platform materials and isolation / decoupling footers make? I'll be picking up a VPI Scout soon, which will be placed on the surface of my my 7ft x 3ft solid wood office desk. Might be a good idea to put something between them?

And if there's a positive sonic difference... thick maple butcher blocks or some form of rock/composite... rubber / ball bearing footers or flotation devices like foam / inflated balls (ooh madam!)... what have you guys found through experimentation? The less expensive, the better.
