Ok chaps, not sure what the rules are with regards to this sort of thing, but I wanted to make the fine SBAF members aware of this UK Meet we're planning for April 2017. The main planning thread is on HF, but as I'm spending less time over there lately and more time here I thought I'd advertise it here too.

I organised the 2009 and 2015 (along with Andy Smith) UK Meets, and for 2017 we have a venue all lined up as well as a couple of sponsors (RHA and highendheadphones.co.uk). The hall we used in 2015 was pretty noisy so for this one I knew I wanted a quieter venue. To that end, we've got two conference rooms, the smaller of which will be dedicated as a quiet room (it'll be interesting to see how that goes!). Last year's UK meet attracted over 100 people with an excellent range of gear on show, and the feedback we're already getting suggests this one is probably going to easily exceed that number.

    SBAF members are most welcome!

Repost of a meet update on the Headfi thread...

Ok so, first announcement is that our co-sponsor Highendheadphones.co.uk will be offering a 10% DISCOUNT on all headphones and related items (amps/dacs/daps/etc) at the meet. There are some headphones I can think of that are virtually never discounted, so you may want take advantage of this if you're in the market for something soon.

Second announcement is that our man Mark Dolbear (@ElectroMod) will be bringing a HUGE COLLECTION OF SCHIIT to the meet for us to play with. As the official Schiit.eu.com, Mark has the lot. If I can remember all the abbreviations correctly, this will include...

Freya, Saga, Yggdrasil, Rag, Gungnir Multibit, Bifrost Multibit, Modi Multibit, Joti, Fulla 2

Mark is also the official MrSpeakers UK distributor and will be bringing along the Ether Flow and Ether C Flow, along with the brand new ÆON ! He also suggested there may be some ex-demo gear available for cheaps on the day [IMG].

This sounds so good. If only I could convince my wife that she really wants to go to Milton Keynes for her birthday weekend for me to listen to the Aeon and Jot rather than going to Harry Potter studios for like the fifth time.

Also, oh god, Milton Keynes. I had to go there recently to pick up an amp- and it just seemed like a railway station... and roads. Not even pavements. Us metrosexual urban scum who don't drive find it a little baffling.

Indeed, not a particularly inspiring place to live I would say, but very conveniently placed for a headphone geekery meet :)

Yeah, I didn't need to be inspired, just move around, though :)

Hahaha, yeah. I did laugh my ass off when I heard a Police type talking about how they had to start offering free roundabout lessons to visiting Japanese businesspeople in MK. It was due to the fact that they found roundabouts completely baffling, and didn't even- frequently resulting in accidents..

(Also not a million miles from the "magic roundabout" outside Hemel, which is deeply special.)

Thing is, being mostly used to That London and That Copenhagen, I'm used to being able to get around a pied!

One redeeming quality of MK is that you can actually cycle south > north through the entire city without going on a single main road. Oh, and the cows.

Yeah, the cows are a major plus!

(Not sure I'd feel comfortable rocking up at the station with my Brompton, mind..)

I do not need to travel 4,000 miles for cows: they wander around my city street and eat the garbage tipped at the end of the road.

However, I'd be very happy to meet you people. Can't be done this year. I hope to be in London around July/August 2018.

Well, be sure to let us know when you're in town. A beer at the very least is in order

Only a couple of days to go until the meet. I hope some SBAFers will be able to come along!
