Yea, this has been my issue as well. I'd say 80% of the iems I've tried had fit issues/pain after wearing for more than 20-40 mins.

Been wanting to demo the Andromeda for some time to see if it fits well. Living in the Midwest stinks.

I'm quite tempted to try these but getting them into Canada at a reasonable price seems problematic.

I'm not particularly familiar with the site, but there's an HD580 for £70 on Gumtree. I'm pretty sure it's still available, and £70 seems like a steal.

This is more of a question than strictly a heads-up, but is anyone familiar with Decware amps? I guess they are tuned moreso for efficient speakers, but from what I've read about this amp the power output would probably be suitable for headphones (1.5-2W). Hard to find any real impressions though. Im curious how these would pair with HD800s, but it would be a 1.5 hour drive each way to go demo so I wanted to see if I could gather some thoughts first.

One other thing to add, I do have some Klipsch KG4s I could theoretically use it with also. Fits the bill of 'efficient', right now I'm running them off a Pioner sx-780

Thing with speaker tube amps is they are designed for a low impedance load, usually 4, 8 or at most 16 ohms. Compared to 300 ohm impedance for the hd800. So most likely won't do a good job of driving those cans. A "trick" you can do is to add a resistor across the amp output, so its in parallel with the cans. But, it would need to be a low value resistor to drop the load impedance to something the amp likes more, and then most of the power will go through the resistor instead of to the cans.
    Hope that makes sense.

Yeah, that makes sense. The later designs that inherited from this guy are spoken of pretty favorably for use with headphones, but hard to know how the earlier rev would behave (the se84b was made available in like 98 or 99) with headphones without demoing.

I was doing some more digging history/price wise on this thing, relative to the other variants this one is priced pretty high. https://www.hifishark.com/search?q=decware+se84* I'll probably still keep an eye on it, but going by what all I've read this morning I'd probably be better served just holding onto my Vali 2 for now and keep saving up for a big boy DAC

It had a unimpressive noise floor but sounded pretty good with Grados. Competed with gilmore lite but lost imo. Still a neat piece of history.

    *edit*

I bet using higher impedance loads and lowering gain and swapping opamps are probably going to improve the noise floor situation though.
