I think Witcher 3 was well received and played by many. But most of the positive comments from japanese gamers were about:
    • the good Japanese voice acting
    • unlike most western games, the women are beautiful
    • praising the attention to detail
The negatives are usually about the awful control, long loading times and too big map.

But Skyrim, Fallout 4 or the Dishonored series was also well received. I think a game has to be fully localized to be successful in Japan. But most recent games are. And most of the time they have very good voice acting. I've preferred playing Skyrim in Japanese even The Last of Us too. (Neither English nor Japanese is my native language.)

In the other hand two japanese games which were much better received in the west than in Japan are Metal Gear Solid The Phantom Pain and Final Fantasy XV.

This is actually pretty spot on, now that I think about it. Comparing Triss or Yen to characters from Bioware or Bethesda games.. ugh. No comparison.

Yes, but gaming in Japan is console gaming only or smartphone gaming recently. PC gaming is negligible.
Half of my coworkers doesn't even have a PC or notebook at home, just tablets. And most of the mods are english only which is an other barrier.

oh this is no stab at the Japanese market, half of or more of the games that I own and like are Japanese.

It was more a failed attempt at humor, by referencing all the "nude" mods that games like Skyrim or oblivion have.

Did anyone pick up Persona 5 for the PS4?

I just finished it over the course of two months, and wow, what a great game. There's a lot (100+ hours) of content, but it's a really slick and polished experience. First time in years that I've played a console JRPG to completion.

that's good to hear. I was interested in checking it out. I'm so far behind. Half way into zero dawn, fallout 4 and zelda. Stuck at the end of the Witcher 3 DLC and near the end of Far Cry 4.

I really need to win some powerball tonight.

I went to register my username as zerodeefex in elder scrolls online today and found out someone has been masquerading as me in that game. This is very disconcerting.

Morrowind suck you in? I've tried getting into it twice already, Morrowind might finally be the thing that keeps me playing.

My favorite TES game is daggerfall followed by Morrowind so I had to give it a shot. Also I have to use my 1080ti and CF791.

WTF, textures are so big these days. I have a 512BGB boot drive on my main machine and half of that is three games.

That's one of the three. 87GB TESO, 79GB FO4 and 76GB DOOM. Then there's 14GB pillars of eternity that I'm enjoying more than everything else.
