Thanks for this. I bought Moss based on your comment here and probably would not have otherwise. I've made other people play this or at least look at it through VR in the past week and all are wowed.

Lots of Skyrim talk here. Makes me wish I had a PC. I did pick this up on PSVR and really works well considering it was not designed for it. However, so far still experimenting with character builds. Large Nord or Orc with an ax and shield right now. Not sure how well bow and arrow or mage characters will work with the move controllers but will try it out.

I am upgrading my 7950, which died after 4 or 5 years, to a 1080 tomorrow (awaiting pick up at Newegg will call). I only play Overwatch but would be cool to try something that makes use of the added grunt of the new card. I have Ryse on Steam that I've never even DL'd. Thoughts welcome?

Since you play shooters, I've really been enjoying Far Cry 5. It's open world with a fanatical group that has taken over a fictional place in Montana. You have allies that can help you attack outposts including a sniper, attack plane, dog, bear, etc.

It's fun to just run around messing with the enemy or environment.

The story is okay, nothing special but is okay for what it is.

For a shooter I would recommend Doom 2016, it’s super cheap now and it’s one of the best single player shooters I’ve ever played. It is also an incredible pretty game that also runs incredibly well.

If you want lots of eye candy, Rise of the Tomb Raider is probably one of the best looking games I’ve ever played. It’s a reasonably fun action adventure game. The first half is better than the second half, it kind of goes off the rails once they give you a machine gun. The first half you spend exploring and raiding tombs as it were :p

I've never tried Ryse but if you already own it, give it a shot.

Rise of the tombraider is great and looks fantastic on max settings. Runs flawlessly on my 1080ti and used about 9GB of vram at 1440p.

The new far cry also looks great, pushes the 1080ti pretty hard on max settings. Gameplay isn't the greatest but it's fun for a while.

Kingdom Come is another newer game with just fantastic graphics and really solid gameplay. You need a strong CPU for this game though, my 4790k struggles to get 60fps at Max settings, so I pull it down 1 step and I'm good.

TR was such a sweet game that I almost specifically mentioned that I had run through the 2 recent TRs. Really nice game I thought. Ive seen BF1 for $20 and may give that a shot.

I'm on 3440 x 1440 x 60Hz, if it matters. On Overwatch it doesn't matter, you just get letterboxed although I'll be stepping up from High to Ultra so looking forward to those God Rays!

Am on still on 4770K... DDR4 prices are ridiculous

I don't think the extra width will effect much more than vram usage, maybe slightly lower fps than 2560, but it should hit 60fps on most games.

Give them another go (at least Rise) with the 1080, it's truly breathtaking maxed out.

Kingdom Come is the first game since getting my 1080ti last fall that has been bottlenecked (at least up to 60fps @ 2560x1440) by my 4790k. I might hop on the next Intel chips, maybe "9700k", whenever they launch.

I just ordered parts to upgrade the workstation for the other designer at my office. He is running a fx8350 with gtx 970, going to ryzen 2600x with 16gb of ddr4, will upgrade both of our machines to 32gb when prices come back down. Also ordered a 1060 6gb for my machine, which was running a 760 2gb. Good luck opening more than 2 Adobe programs with 2gb of vram. This time last year we upgraded my machine from an fx 6300 to ryzen 1600 with 16gb ddr4. These ryzen chips are pretty damn good.

Your 4770k can still last you a good long while. CPU tech hasn't changed all that much. For better or worse, we have stretched the limits of silicon about as far as it will go. The new i5's look pretty nice though if you were to upgrade. The new Ryzens are supposedly good for gaming as well.

Ryse is an okay game if your interested in the Roman era. It's basically an eye candy game and mostly forgettable though. Not worth buying but since you already have it.

I found Ryse to be so dull. If only God of War was available on PC

Assassin's Creed Origins is a fun game that looks great. It's very CPU intensive but your i7 should be fine

Yeah, the word on Ryse was that it was pretty but not much for game play. I bought it for maybe $6 on Steam for when I bought a 'big boy' card, wanted the eye candy, and the time has come. I've never even DL'd it. I'm seeing BF1 on Origin for $20 by now, but I've always had such an issue connecting to BF servers that I'm not anxious on that one. I do have a hard copy of the GTA V which would be even a little cooler as I've moved to LA since buying that one. Probably I'll just end up sticking with Overwatch and enjoying the God Rays that I didn't have access to on 'high' settings with the 7950.

I like Mini Metro, but am somewhat miffed by the utter reliance on RNG instead of something like PRNG causing difficulties.

It's graphically unintensive enough that my potato work laptop has no issues playing it at all though.

God of War is as good as they say it is. Crunchy combat, more RPG elements than previous GoW games and well done, epic cutscenes, great story so far especially if you know some of Kratos' backstory, incredible graphics (for PS4!) and smooth gameplay/FPS. There are quite a few stellar PS4 exclusives out now.

Damn this makes me want a PS4. God of War is one of the series that made me buy a PS3. If it had 4K blu-ray I would be all over it. Will have to wait to see if the rumors of PS5 coming out this November are true...

My venerable 7950 died the other day and the price diff from 1060 to 1080 was close enough that I went with the 1080. From 1080 to 1080ti would have been another $400 so that was never on the radar. Anyway, Overwatch at 70FPS pegged at 1440 on Extreme graphics settings and the card is basically inaudible... that struck me as pretty cool.

With Overwatch and Mobas in general I get worked up way too fast. Games with much worse penalties for death, like many Arma 3 mods I play (could take you 30+ minutes to get back to your team and days to get the best gear again) which still have intense firefights, I never get frustrated because 99% of the time it was my fault for getting killed. For some reason when I'm doing bad in overwatch I get much more upset, to almost unhealthy levels, so I just stopped playing.

Nintendo released the soundtrack for Zelda BOTW on CD. Over 200 tracks in a pretty cool package. Here is the link to the regular one: Link . Also comes in a first print/limited edition for a little extra. Have to import from Japan but if you make an Amazon.jp account it ships to the US for around $10.
