Ha ha, you're right! How could I have missed that?!? Damn, that's an even finer watch.

Breguet is big in Asia and in the boardroom, I've heard. One patient told me of being in a meeting where things started a few minutes late because the high-end client noticed the watch on his opposite's wrist. "Is that a Breguet!?" It was and they had a little horology bromance moment.

Go with what you love, but try them on if possible, go to chrono24 and see if something similar if offered by a dealer near you.

I would say the blue dial is not more formal, just the opposite.

I've always wanted to have a(n affordable) 7750 chronometer. This one here is from a small German micro-brand and I like the clean look. It's so well adjusted - still in sync with my radio-controlled clocks after a couple of days. Due to the close-up it looks bigger than it is (42mm actually)

Recently I have been introduced to automatic watches. In short: my best friend gave me a Steinhart "Submariner Retro Re-issue" and it feels great. Pictures are next.

I have also been thinking about getting a Seiko automatic and I really like the SARG009. Is there something similar to that right now? Finding a SARG009 in NL is not easy...

Love Steinhart! For the price, the quality is outstanding.
Have their Military 47, Apollon, Terra Incognita prototype and had a few others from their catalogue.

Regarding similar watches to that Seiko, there are quite many ranging from Rolex Explorer of course, to Sinn's 556 A, to Benhardt Anchor watches, etc.

Being from NL you might consider supporting Aevig (https://aevig.com) (located in Schiedam). I love the Corvid automatic (see below) and Chip's other watches are quite elegant, too.

Good advice from other folks, Sinn is a fine choice, spring for the Rolex Explorer if you like, it's a classic.

    Here's an idea: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/martenero-kerrison-introducing

I like the overall design and Martenero priced it appropriately for a well designed Miyota-based watch.

Does anyone else find the ratchet-like spinning movement of the rotor in a Miyota automatic slightly distracting? I have a modest collection of watches (modern and vintage) that I rotate on a fairly regular basis. I find that I notice the 9015 movement more than Swiss counterparts such as the 2524. I'm curious if others feel the same.

    Thanks,

Are automatics more delicate? I've had an Ulysee Nardin auto and an IWC auto have to go in for repairs. Never had a problem with manuals.

Now, I'm pretty hard on watches, and it may just be that my sample set is too small to say anything about autos vs. manuals. Have others had similar experiences?

    Pics plz kthx!

While there is more to go wrong in an auto, there shouldn't be a huge difference between them. Rolex, for example, builds very sturdy automatics. If you are a little tough on watches, Rolex sounds right up your alley.

First up is my favourite. It had some oxidation on the original face, so I had them replace that too when they fixed the automatic mechanism:

My current IWC is a little large for my wrist, but I still like it (while also an automatic, this is not the one that had to go in for repair):

    A bit of vintage:

... and my absolutely indestructible every-day manual JLC:

This is my Steinhart. I have the replacement parts but I prefer to keep it in this state. Wear and tear suit this watch...

I have a small collection of watches. Three vintage Olmas (one needs to go for servicing), a transition era Vostok Black Scuba Dude Amphibian, a Vostok Amphibian Radio Room, a reissue Vostok nVCH-30, a modified Luch one hander, a 1924 Elgin tank, a vintage Oris After Five, a vintage Smiths, an Orient diver and a couple others.

I am going to buy a Vostok Steve Zissou Amphibian soonish for my Dragoncon costume (yes I am a massive nerd) and I want to a nicer quartz in the not to distance future.

An update on my little experiment. Neither the TAG or the Casio have had their clocks adjusted. Time is in reference to time.is

    TAG - 25 seconds ahead

    Casio - 55 seconds ahead

I’m glad to see that both are still accurate to within a minute after 3 months. Time will be back to zero soon when I reset my watches coming out of daylight savings time.
