    I had one of the best afternoons listening to and enjoying music that I've had in a very long time. It's funny because I started out this morning with plans to do a bunch of critical listening. I've had the lyr 3 not even a week yet. I've got an LPS on loan for the CTH. So I set out the day to be in evaluation mode. It didn't work out like that.

    I put on Gregory Porter: Nat King Cole and Me. What a tremendous talent this guy is. His just has that honey smooth baritone voice that plays out amazingly on the jazz stage. I listened to the whole album start to finish and never got over to the CTH for comparison.

    At that point I said screw it and decided to make it a listening for enjoyment day. Since I'd really gotten into the Porter tribute to Cole album, I cued up another one. This time it was Diana Krall's Cole tribute album. This woman has some pretty wonderful vocals herself. Pretty easy on the eyes as well. Come to think of it, I wonder if she's single...NM I digress.

    Finally it only seemed to appropriate to cue up one from the man himself, Nat King Cole. I chose The Very Thought of You. This the album he did with the Gordon Jenkins orchestra. It is exceptionally well recorded. It was a perfect afternoon for amazing jazz...this is why I'm in the hobby.

    I just recently discovered Radio Paradise. I'm a big fan of radio in general, in the sense that I like the idea of a human being presenting songs that flow together and take the listener on a musical journey. Very few radio stations even come close to doing this anymore, which is why Radio Paradise is so refreshing. It's clear that the couple who runs this radio station put an incredible amount of thought and effort into selecting a playlist that spans multiple genres.

    The best part of all is that Radio Paradise now has a FLAC stream, which I'm accessing through the newly released JRiver Media Center 24. It's simply a delight to have a radio experience that presents a thoughtfully curated playlist with excellent sound quality.
