BTW, anyone use Kindle? I think Kindle 4/5 is bestest because they are lightest in the whole product line thought I think they are still too heavy.

I do. I commute by train every day, which it is great for. I also like the new built-in light for reading at night. I currently have a Paperwhite.

I read this over the holiday break. It is fantastic!

You learn so much from this book. Its an amazing layman's guide to nuclear science.

The Manhattan Project and the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were easily one of the five most important events of the 20th century and this book really is the definitive chronicle.

Shadows of Self is high on my "to read" list. Had no idea the next one was going to be released so close on its heels! I found Alloy of Law to be a fun and refreshing new take on the Mistborn world - but I agree with you that the Stormlight Archive is Sanderson's most compelling series.

I've been taking a short break from fantasy and just consumed Ace Atkins' newest Spenser novel. Robert B. Parker's legacy is not easily continued by new blood, but I thought this one was good and a big improvement on Atkin's earlier attempts to capture Spenser in all his wise-ass detective/tough guy glory. Courtesy of audible's three month free trial for amazon prime members, I'm also listening to the 40 hr long audio book of Follett's Pillars of the Earth. His stuff is just too long for me in written form, but this, like World without End and the Century Trilogy (which I have also enjoyed as books on tape), is seriously great character driven historical fiction.

Armada is worth a read too. Not as good, but fun.

The Natasha Randall translation (linked above) is the one I read and it was excellent.

Haven't read the book yet, but I have been watching the show on Amazon. Fascinating "what if"...

I'm on the first few chapters and it's pretty interesting. The title does not give much away, but the theme and the writing is quite absorving.

This is a pretty interesting Sci-Fi/Fantasy novel... or Science Fantasy. It's the first book of this kind that I read. It's a bit difficult to read at first but pretty good. Lots of poetry like stuff but not nearly as annoying and IMO as gratuitous as in Ray Bradbury's random stuff (Fahrenheit 451 and The Martial Chronicles - both which I did not like at all - I find Ray pretty lame actually, dunno what the big deal is about him TBH) .

This is sort of a mix of Hinduism, Buddhism, some little bit of Christian-ism, w lots of Fantasy and Science-Fiction. It's a nice mix and sort of consistent with quite a bit of real thought into it. Really well executed novel if you ask me. Surprisingly so.

If you haven't read his Amber Chronicles, do so. It's one of the best fantasy series of all time.

Bands of Mourning was surprisingly good. I didn't expect Mistborn Adventures to pick up but the characterization is much better. It's still not as good as his best works, but it's come a long way from Alloy of Law.

Currently reading "Only time will tell" by Jefferey Archer. I surprisingly enjoyable book. About a boy in England after WW1. I'd recommend it.

Right now I am reading Spark by John Ratey MD.

    http://www.amazon.com/Spark-Revolutionary-Science-Exercise-Brain/dp/0316113514

It's about the biological influence has on how the mind works. Some interesting things I learned was how some Duke researchers in 2000 found that exercise was as effective as drugs when treating depression. Anecdotally it makes some sense to me. When I was in high school I was playing tennis around 3-4 hours a day. When I started college and I gave up tennis in exchange for studying more, my focus and concentration began to take a nose dive. I don't think it's a coincidence that when I stopped exercising regularly is also when I started having more difficulty staying on task.

Also nearly done with Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. One more book and I'll be done with the series.

Good luck with that. I was pretty disappointed with the last book when I read it and felt that it was pretty unmemorable except that quite a few people died. I very much preferred the series up until Goblet of Fire. After that Rowling seemed to make story length a higher priority than the actual content. While not a bad series, quite readable in fact, I felt it was rather overrated for what it offered. Might be because a large part of its readership never read much or anything else outside of the series and thought it was best thing they ever read. Which, in a sense, it probably was.
