For me, it's gotta be distantly-miked drums, the kind that give the impression of sounding humongous without drawing too much attention to themselves in the recording. I just realized as I was typing that the sound I'm thinking of is reminiscent of distant cannon or thunder, which would explain things.

I also really like hearing female vocalists' voices get really breathy and seem to jump out of audible range at times, and that sheeny rasping thing you get when you drag fingernails or picks across an acoustic guitar's strings.

I have a thing for tonewheel organs. Also piano of all sorts and acoustic string bass.

Hearing the strings on the Cello. To clarify; being able to pick out the details, like the timbre and reverb of the individual strings, and not just "That's a Cello."

The bass clarinet does it for me. Two outstanding examples below:

For classical, the oboe. Fell in love with sound in college.

For rock/pop, a well arranged orchestral score, think Sgt. Peppers or the Moody Blues Days of Future Past.

    For sci-fi movies this thing.

I played dual reed woodwinds (oboe/cor anglais, bassoon) in high school orchestra, and while they sound cool (played well, so not really me) I'd rather l listen to them than play them. Very difficult to get good tone consistently. My band mates used to laugh at how red my face would get. French horn gets my vote.

Electric/acoustic Bass was the instrument I picked up first out of convince and avaliability, but really it's the Cello is that resonates with me more! Love hearing the wax and wail of the bow again'st those beautiful low notes and the reverb. Just as nice is the Bowwed Double Bass, I'll link a good video. But I've seen some amazing solo work on just a double bass that really get's me excited

Brazilian cuica drums always get me moving, but a typical funky 70s flanged guitar sound is amazing when used rythmically.

Also love the sound of the oboe. I heard that even top professionals live in constant fear, as, even for them, things can go wrong at any moment. That important solo note...
