It sounds really good with the 3 volume settings I have: Soft, Medium, Loud.

Lying in bed in the dark, the flashing LED is a bit distracting ... LOL

I'm my experience, using a phone as a BT source, the BT Media Volume acts as SW volume out to the BT receiver, so you can scale as required.

Get a little dot of gaffer tape to put over it. Stays on well but peals off easily with no residue.

Other than the above mentioned volume granularity issues, ergonomics are pretty good even without earhooks.

Spinfits give me a shallow but reasonably secure fit and seal so as long as I don't headbang, they stay in place.

How do you like the setup? I am really excited that people are getting to try this out.

Other than BT volume set to "11" out of the NW-A35, it's pretty good. Sound is great, slightly warmer than I'm used to with iEMatch but not overly so. Perhaps a touch warmer than straight out of the NW-A35 even. Maybe this perceived warmth is just that gooey Sony Organic Shit™ (@Griffon).

Running it from a source w/ BT media volume control fixes the granularity issue, but don't you find the "BEEP, Power On" and "BOOP, Bluetooth Connected" really loud w/ Andros? That's source independent, local to the MUC. And if I try to reduce the volume past the lowest setting, I get an R2D2 "BIDIP" followed by a brief pause before audio resumes. The latter is a small niggle. Doesn't do that if I use the volume control on the A35, which only controls the volume of the MUC itself.

    • The power on and power off are crap loud but I never have the Andromedas in during either event :)
    • I don't get weird R2D2 noises when paired with my phone
How the f**k do you get it to reliably stay in without ear hooks? I pulled out the tackle box and (no joke) tried 40 different tips before I settled on Spinfits + earhooks.

It's... kinda different. Sony Organic Shit® is, to my perception, a mix of warmth and timbre, more on the timbre side. When the dose is right, it's Sony Organic Shit® in a good way. Otherwise we have the real stinky shit.

I'm not a very skilled analytical listener, but the MUC+Andro gives me the same level of engagement that I'm used to. Still get that depth to the sound (not in the soundstage sense) that makes me want to pause and just listen, but without any cables in the way :D

Try reducing the volume using the MUC buttons all the way down to "zero" and then keep going. Eventually R2D2 will inform you that you've bottomed out.

I guess the Andro shells fit my concha fairly well. And the Spinfits give me a good enough seal to get a bit of suction if I try and pull them out. So I don't even really need the cables going over ear to keep them in place.

The rubbery coating feels a bit sticky on my neck, but I'm in a humid (although air-conditioned) environment. Your stickiness may vary.

I was thinking these might work for the gym with the Noble X (via adapters) but they don't hook well over the ears and an add-on earhook probably wouldn't work. I don't get a good enough seal with Spiral Dot + foam mod to get any suction effect.

I've trying to get away from using ER-4P ear dildos at the gym, but I'll give them a try tonight. Will probably put a towel around my neck and then drape the MUC over.

The next step is this (my wife got them as a graftgift from a vendor.

Bets on how long it takes her to lose one.

FWIW I thought the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 were pretty OK (for "mid-fi", or whatever).

I also A/B compared the wired version (out of some NAD CD spinner) vs apt-X version (playing a rip of the same CD, and roughly synchronized - the people who work in that store probably thought there was "something wrong with that guy" after seeing me repeatedly swap headphones :) ) The wireless version lacked a bit of bass slam, probably because of battery vs AC, but didn't seem too far behind to me.

Ordered the Andromedas (arriving today) and the neck band (2-3 days?) to try this out, fingers crossed. If you already have IEMs, $200 seems like a reasonable price for a good wireless commuting \ exercising solution.

I was checking to see if the MUC supports aptX (it seems it does) so I could try it with my Note 3 that also has aptX support to see how it sounds. The Note 3 will give me BT media volume control > granularity yeah!!! Will report back on how aptX>MUC>Andro sounds.

But the above search led me to this unboxing post on a local forum. Someone replied with pics of their SBH70 converted to MMCX (doesn't support LDAC). And then they made an MMCX>3.5mm adapter so they could use them with their non-MMCX headphones. Thought it was pretty funny.

aptX is midway between vanilla Bluetooth and ldac. I could only give it a brief listen cuz Bluetooth headphones seem to suck with my Note 3 for some reason. Hiccups every minute or 2 forced me to turn it off.

This eBay add for a used ZX2 says "Bluetooth playback seems to have distortion (a known issue of android 4.2)." I can't seem to find anything about this being an issue. Had thought that if I ever got one, it would give me the best of both worlds (wired/wireless). Can anyone with MUC and ZX2 confirm/deny this?

got mine yesterday, paired it with wm1a and it sounds pretty damn good, This is actually exactly what i'm looking for, now I can use my phone for audiobooks and wm1a for music without having to carry around adapters for cables. Going to be my on the go option from now, thanks zero!!

in terms of sound, it was a little bit warmer than what i'm used to and sound stage a little smaller, but overall pretty good. I wonder if it'd work as it's getting charged via usb, might be workable for long flights if it does.

Pretty sure the MUC powers down when USB power is connected. Buy 2 and alternate!

I'm hoping the MUC will be a good pairing with the MEE PX (when I get it) and the A35. Hopefully they won't be too sensitive and result in the lack of volume granularity issues I have with the Andros.
