Anyone else getting some szechuan sauce? I'm driving an hour to get some tomorrow, Norwich CT.

I don't think you are. I am waiting outside the McDonald's, 23rd in line. 20 packets of sauce. Each person gets one sauce, or one poster. Don't serve until 2. Already big line.

 

Only 20 packets? Wow, not what I expected...

 

And that's the only place in CT. That's 5x10^-6 packets per citizen

 

Line wraps around McDonalds. Overheard managers saying they are unprepared for this many people. Only first bunch will get it. I am in the first bunch.

I've been out here for 2 hours, plus 1 hour drive. I'm getting the sauce.

I f'ing got it. The last sauce!!!!!!! And a nice (not szechuan) poster.

 

NOT worth it, the flavor or even tasting the sauce isn't the only reason we are waiting in line. I feel it's the collective experience of being there waiting in line for it with other Rick n Morty fans! Or at least that's my take on it, ymmv

 

100% worth it. Some guy payed us $5 for a dip of the sauce. Another offered $100 for the sauce. Another offered $100 for poster. We kept our sauce and posters though.
Only 1000 total of each poster.

 

The sauce was actually really good. I'm sad I can't get it again

 

For those not willing:

 

$100 for a packet of fast-food sauce. The price of a Magni 3 or an aftermarket cable...for a packet of McDonald's sauce. Always nice to be reminded that some people have their financial priorities even more out of whack than us audiophiles.

I think that when you factor in the time spent, it's still less profitable than prostitution, and you don't have to suffer the companionship of R&M fans. (In most cases)

Seriously though I cannot understand the thought process of people literally rioting because of a lack of a mediocre sauce, a cartoon man said he likes. Why did McDonald's even buckle to them with apologies? How did people make fun of the year 2016 when this is a thing that happens

 

There are people that go into a bar and drop the majority of their paycheck for some Schiits & giggles. Saving for audio gear that gives hours of enjoyment is certainly not out of whack when put in that perspective.

At least that's what I keep telling myself...

 

McDonald's obviously sees an opportunity for profit and underestimated the "cartoon man's" popularity, lol.

 

Rick and Morty fans are f’n nuts! I’ve only seen a couple episodes but now I want to get up to speed.

As far as how much McDonald’s screwed up, this seems like nothing but win for them. All this hype over sauce now has a bunch of other wondering what the deal is.

 

To be fair, if some business was running a promotion I was looking forward to and then ran it with supplies as comically limited as McDonald's did with this sauce, I'd probably be a bit miffed myself. I mean, people are getting a bit worked up over a fast-food dipping sauce, but in principle I understand why someone would look at this like a borderline bait & switch.
