Not much commentary here on the second film. I liked it a great deal but felt another installment is much needed.

If your cough persists, please try to get CT scan etc. My experience... I had a very nasty and debilitating cough for five years. A couple of times a year I'd get sent to the specialist (British NHS) and an x-ray would show nothing. They would tell me to stop smoking and send me away.

Well, finally I /did/ stop smoking, which had no effect at all. Further tests followed, and, whilst x-rays continued to show no abnormality, a CT scan showed a large ball-shaped thing in the middle of my chest. ...

... Right up to surgery itself, they could not tell /what/ it was. Turned out to be a cyst. But it had become infected.

x-rays are wonderful. And what physicians can read from them is incredible to me. But sometimes they do not tell the whole story.

I will probably not circle back to it for another six months now. Sometimes I wonder at such things, how much they $lose$ in sales do to their idiosyncrasies

Last night I moved from my main rig (DNA, Holo, Yggdrasil, Utopia, ZMF, etc.) to my Shanling dap w/ jar650 and played some of the same songs. I thought the same thing - how this singer/music sounded so bland, how different it sounded without any headstage of any kind, etc. I had to switch to music I had not heard on the main rig recently! :)

I usually wear BT buds for my commute, but sometimes break out a pair of Nair and plug directly into the phone. And dang, I shake my head realizing how much I'm missing. You need contrast in order to appreciate how good you have it. There is reason for keeping low-midfi stuff around haha

I think I've only seen you even mention the speakers here a few times off hand, which is nice in a way, don't want to MOTs pushing their stuff. but god damn man, these speakers are fantastic, so now im out here pounding the drum. It is true they aren't cheap though. Maybe when I get up to the closest dealer, I can try out some of the cheaper ones as well and report back on them too

In Munich last year, the Estelon room was one of my favourites, and IIRC that was Aura, not Forza. Excellent speakers indeed.

I'd love to compare a new rag 2 to my mono Aegirs and Freya S. Would love to simplify and really think rag 2 is sexy AF looking. Not to mention another headphone amp in the mix.

Just to pour more oil in the fire we have a new development happening - to be revealed in Munich this year. It is smaller and cheaper than Forza yet does a few things even better.

@crenca Wrt loudness I believe SoupR heard them play plenty loud in a generous room. At least what Alfred tells me there was nightclub music and loudness at one point.

I don’t actually listen that loud normally, but yeah, when I was demoing them Sunday morning, they turned it up very loud for some of my tracks and they didn’t have any issues.

It’s a disease/money pit at its worst and super fun at its best. If you’re a tweaky kind of person, it’s hard to beat dialing the sound in with different toobs.

I'm using ZMF pads on my Susvara. Quality made, and sonically excellent.

May I suggest those cheap thin "leather" pads (because they are NOT made of leather) from AliExpress? I've tried quite some options, not ZMF, but 2 types of Dekoni and 4(?) kinds of cheap Chinese pads, those thin "leather" pads suit me the best, as they sound kinda warm-ish while others still give me the chill or spikes sometimes.

Someone here tried them but I’m having trouble finding the impressions. IIRC they made some things better and some things worse. The consensus basically remains that, for HD800, stock pads are best. That’s what @ext1 uses, for instance.

@Azimuth and @jowls , those are good points, which hopefully I have provided some insight on my particular evaluation method.

You should also hear tape hiss on the piano intro The Great Gig in the Sky.

Now I need to try this on some lesser DACs...Yggdrasil A1 with MJ1 clearly passes the test.

Both will get the same result though.
