Interesting product. Not sure I need it given that I have a V2+ but I'm curious to hear impressions. You have to give Schiit credit for remaining unexpected.

Seems like if you're not getting at least a Modi Multibit and Vali 2 you might as well get a Fulla 2.

Yes, but I'd expect it to be quite uncomfortable.

I suspect the modi 4490 is no longer a great purchase. Suspect the same about the magni 2 but we'll see.

Spread your toes, step like a duck. Problem solved.
I'm continually impressed at Schiit's willingness to cannibalize their own lineup to the benefit of their customers, old and new. It's the smart play, but it still takes a certain amount of guts.

My guess is it's sort of the same thing Apple does. If you release a better product, and have absolute confidence that the average consumer will switch to that over your previous lineup, it doesn't really matter how good your old stuff is.

The difference between the two companies being Schiit's stuff feels like its built to outlast the apocalypse, and Apple's becomes outdated roughly every 9-12 months.

I suspect Schiit is trying to move away from standalone D/S DACs. If things like the Fulla 2 and Joti sell well enough, they could in theory phase out the Modi and Bifrost D/S and sell multibit as their only standalone DACs across the line.

    Re the future: who knows?

We're in a "wait and see" mode. So far, there are no products in imminent danger of being discontinued. Everything seems to be largely additive, at least so far. But I expect we'll know more about the impact of the Jotunheim and Fulla 2 by the middle of next year...

...by which time, things will have changed again.

Wow. Design looks very user friendly and love the large volume knob on top. I was thinking about ordering Modi/Magni 2U and saw this product on their website.

Just reading product description and found this part "Connect the fixed DAC output to a larger system, through a preamp or integrated amp. Connect the variable preamp output to your desktop powered monitors."
If I understood correctly, 1st sentence means L/O as a DAC only to dedicated amp/preamp... But not sure what 2nd sentence means... What is "variable preamp output to desktop powered monitors"? Can anyone help me understand the part?

Like it. How does the outputs work ? I mean...are the three output working together at the same time, or there's some priority between them ?

You turn the knob, it adjusts the volume. This should probably only be used for speakers. It's effectively a Sys.

Powered monitors have their own amps internally but many don't have their own volume control. The variable output provides you with volume.
