We've got one more month before RSD2017

What's everyone buying or trying to get their hands on?

@Ryu was cool enough to point out the release database has been released, ready for everyone to call dibs. It can be found here.

Personally, I'm looking forward to picking up:
Bruce Springsteen - Hammersmith Odeon, London 75'
Iggy Pop - Post Pop Depression: Live At The Royal Albert Hall
    Warzone - The Victory Years

Not a whole lot I am looking for tbh. I am pretty excited about a couple things though! The Coheed and Cambria album is the number 1 priority! After that it's probably the RHCP EP and then the anniversary record from Pink Floyd and a single sided art pressing of some unreleased stuff by Pink Floyd as well.

If anyone is unable to attend, I am willing to grab stuff for people while supplies last. All I ask is you cover the price and shipping (free if you are local).

I'll grab the new Mark Mulcahy if the store has it. How does this work anyway? Do all record stores participating have all the rsd releases?

If anyone from the UK/Ireland is reading, Rough Trade is putting out a re-issue of Elastica's self-titled debut album for RSD. If you manage to get an extra copy I'd buy it off you!

@Perot I'm not sure if all do, but I'd imagine most stores will get a list of what they will be receiving prior to the day. If you can get them to give up that information is another story unless you know them well.

There are a significant number of releases that are region exclusive, though I haven't dug into exactly which are.

I'm a bit of a Sugar completist, so the re-release of Copper Blue with their very excellent live performance is #1 priority for me. Elastica hasn't seen vinyl for many years so that would also be nice, although the price is a bit much. Hoping perhaps it may get a more widespread release after RSD.

The Thelonious Monk release has never been available AFAIK, although again rather pricey. I really enjoyed Kate Tempest's album last year and thought it would be great to have a music-only version when I'm not in the mood for the poetry, so they clearly listened to my wishes :).

Thelonius Monk ‘Les Liasons Dangereuses, 1960’
    Sugar - Copper Blue
Kate Tempest - Let Them Beat Chaos / Let Them Spea
Penguin Cafe & Cornelius Umbrella EP
    Elastica - Elastica

I say this with my hands in the air like I don't care...

Hot Pink Vinyl of "Bangerz" is somehow my number 1. Hopefully some of the 1300 make it to this small midwestern town

Edit: nevermind that. May have to try and grab space jam tho

Tomorrow's the day, tried to get it out of my local shop as to what he'd be getting but no luck.

We'll see what tomorrow brings, I've added the Thelonius Monk release to my list.

Fortunately my local place is happy to confirm stuff he's got...so, that'll be Sugar, Elastica and The Cure for starters, yay. I'm planning on setting the alarm for 02:30 with a view to setting up "camp" outside the shop by 03:30. Must be bloody mad!

Ok, I know I'm spamming the thread a bit but I guess record store day hasn't properly started in the US yet :)

Here's the haul...I could have gone for loads more but I didn't want to spend stupid money. Got all my most wanted, Elastica, Sugar, Felonious Monk (the only copy of that I've seen in two stores this morning). Then on top of that I couldn't resist The Cure's Greatest Hits and Acoustic Hits plus Chimera and finally an interesting sounding Penguin Cafe/Cornelius EP. The Springsteen is for a mate who's a completist on his stuff.

@k4rstar I looked for another Elastica LP in the second shop for you but they didn't receive any despite ordering them. Elastica was also the most popular want from the people I was queued up with overnight, and with only 1000 pressed it's going to be tough to find. I did give the 2nd shop my phone number in case they get hold of another copy and I'll happily pass it onto you at cost. Some wankers are already flipping it for £100 on ebay :-(

    DSC_2328.JPG

The first twenty or so people in the queue got one of these rather cool RSD tote bags with some goodies inside...

Our shop here isn't open for another two hours or so, heading out shortly.

@pedalhead Nice haul, hoping our shop has some good stuff to give out too.

I picked up Neil Young 'Decade' and Bill Evans 'Another Time: The Hilversum Concert'. Elastica was sold out, but I'm not that fussed as I already have it on CD, I just wanted to get a copy on vinyl. Also missed out on Thelonius Monk.

Good luck and report back @bhx!

Nice! I would love to have picked up the Bill Evans but no sign of it locally here. Please let me know what you think of it.

Will do. I've never heard any of his own work, only with Miles Davis on 'A Kind Of Blue'. He was recommended to me when I started to expand my jazz library beyond that classic album.
