I got the Greg graffin album on gold vinyl. Pretty sure no one else wanted it, given that I showed up extremely late.

Thanks for the suggestions @pedalhead and @Daveheart, I'll do some research to see if there are preferred masters etc. and pick some of them up.

Going to two more shops here today.

I missed out on a copy of Waylon Forever, they had one at our McNally Robinson of all places, it's probably one of the more limited releases this year at /250.

I was up in Montreal, QC on RSD. While I found a few used titles I've been looking for, I couldn't find three of the top RSD releases I wanted: Bill Evans, Pink Floyd, and Thelonious Monk. I did snag the following:

Iron and Wine, Archive Series vol. 3
Men I Trust, Men I Trust - copy number 004/ 333 - Released on RSD, but not an RSD release
Patrick Watson & L'Orchestre Cinema L'Amour/ The Barr Brothers, Live - Not an official RSD release, but a free promo from the store I visited

...I had only heard two songs from Men I Trust, so the album was a gamble, but I'm very impressed with it so far. I wasn't expecting to find it, so I was pleasantly surprised.

I've been working in a different city for the past few days. Had an hour to kill before my train home today and, yeah...this happened...RSD round #2...

Very chuffed to have found the Wynton Kelly/Wes Montgomery release in particular.

haha nice score! Owning a turntable is like being on crack. Very hard to walk past a record store, especially around RSD.

100% agreed, i'm forcing myself to back off from equipment upgrades and focus on procuring more vinyl :) that should facilitate a reduced reliance on digital too so win-win!

I was free on Monday and I picked up the following albums on CD:
    • Blue Note Plays Prince from 2006.
    • Eine Kleine Nachtmusik from 1976, a DG recording conducted by Karl Böhm.
    • Sly & The Family Stone's "Stand", the CBS CD issue
    • Queen's "News Of The World", the 1993 CD re-master.
In a the coming days the complete Tool discography should arrive. Then Tool week starts...

I ended up going to three other shops about 2hrs away from where I live.

Needless to say I couldn't resist and picked up a few more.

Iggy Pop - Post Pop Depression
    David Bowie - Cracked Actor
Ben Folds - Live in Perth
The Flaming Lips - Onboard the International Space Station: Concert for Peace

Interesting. I ignored it because the last few Flaming Lips RSD issues have been kinda tough to get excited about.

I agree with you, last 3 or 4 releases and weird projects have been forgettable. This live album was doing it for me though, big sound, sounds like the band was having fun. Although, now that I think of it, this might have been affected by an altered state of mind.

Probably the best way to enjoy Flaming Lips as of late ... and probably also how it was made.

Only grabbed one RSD release this year, but it's certainly a fun blast to the past. Sounds quite good

Me too! Only CD player in my entire house as my dad's work computer (he loved that). Probably true for many of us who were kids in the 90's

I remember getting my first CD player, I think, early high school <?>. Would have been somewhere around 90-92 maybe. A Sony single-disc player. I hooked it up to my tape/phono/radio all-in-one for sound at first. Then my neighbor was throwing out his old huge broken wooden console record player. I took it and bypassed the phono I guess to the amp and it made a much better speaker system than my old Magnavox tape/phono. It had pretty huge bass for those 6x9's in that big resonant cabinet which I thought was pretty cool at 15. I believe this was one of my first CD's if not my first: http://www.allmusic.com/album/tonal-evidence-mw0000674769
