Any chess players here? I just ordered this set for the Library/Listening room:

The pieces are made out of Boxwood and Ebony. The king is 4" tall.

Nice! I don't play much chess anymore since I got sucked into playing Go. But I very much enjoy the game, and appreciate the aesthetics of a nice set. Also, that looks like fine whiskey and a cigar would pair well.

Classic large Staunton set ! Board is 19 inches? Looks like real inlay versus bleached wood ?

The board is constructed using palisander (Nicaraguan rosewood) and maple inlays and has a thick solid mahogany frame. It has 2.28" squares. The King has a 1.8" base. It's 22" x 22" including the frame.

    *raises hand*

Though, I'm pretty rusty these days.

My set is quite similar to yours.

My parents had a set of Lewis chessmen - ours were home-made, from Plaster of Paris, and didn't look as good as this photo:

... but personally I prefer this one:

Haven't played much since 2015 but, yeah, I'm into chess. I think my Chess.com profile is still active if one of y'all want to do a correspondence game.

I used to love chess. I had Fritz 6 on Windows XP and learnt a lot from the game. There was also the chess club at high school but after a while I only played for fun.

Thing is I still love chess. When I was younger and went out to clubs I once out of boredom started playing chess in the Metal cafe. That was fun. Chess and drinks mix well...

It's been a while...I think I lost my last few games on timeout since I kept forgetting to login and check my moves :p

A correspondence game is something I haven't thought about for a very long time. My grandfather played games that would last for years with an old war buddy of his. It was a great thing to listen to him talk about every time I walked into his den, and felt obligated to explain why I shouldn't touch "that" board...

Just checked what available chess software there is.

You can download Fritz 8 for almost nothing. Fritz 15 is the latest version.

Thing is I prefer something simpler so I downloaded Lucas Chess. I missed a program like this.

You're on. I'll send a game @ 7/days a move. DL the phone app. Lot easier to keep up that way.
