I can tweet the eq via a DAW or something .

My question was the following: How can I incorporate an EQ inside the headphone themselfs ?

Easy. When everything is right, you won't have to.

Seems to me you still have a long way to go.

Everything affects the drivers. Diaphragm material, voice coil material/length/size. Shape of the drivers. Surround material. Magnet type and strength. Damping, etc, etc. The whole headphone construction affects the FR, so there's plenty of stuff to change around to get the response you desire. It's not rocket science.

    Thanks,
my problematic, is that I need to add more high frequency. Therefor, the best solution I see is to add more energy via some EQ boost.

Without knowing what sort of headphone you're using, the general ways to bring up treble are to put something hard/reflective behind the driver or to break the seal around ears/earpad and reduce the bass (or possibly reduce the vents if it's a closed cup).

    Needs to be 'active' way.
    I'm afraid, passive way's won't suffice.

You could also build a passive filter. What sort of response problems are we dealing with here? If it's that bad, why not just ditch the driver?

    Why wont passive ways suffice?

And uh, if you are building a headphone startup, shouldn't you know about how to build headphones and be properly educated instead of asking on a forum?

if passive ways won't suffice, fire your acoustic engineers and hire more competent ones. Hell, I can name at least 10 people in this community who aren't professional acoustic engineers but all of whom know how to do what you want without "active" way or anything related to electrical.

Yeah, doing electrical works, but it's the "cheap way out." Note no electrically or chip-EQed headphone on the market is actually any good.

You do know what active means right? That you will need to provide powered hardware between the source and the amp. I am not sure end-users will be willing to do this, unless the headphones you are designing are self powered, like the some of the Beats or Bose.

    But here you go:

Too bad you won't consider passive. It's actually easier and less intrusive to the end-user.

What I meant by active, was with an electrical change. As some of your colleagues, adding foam and plastic reflexion.

I'm curious. Is this "headphone startup" of yours going to end up offering a product on Kickstarter?
