 interested even though I'm utterly satisfied with the torp3do. Much respect for Pass.

Can't say I'm the biggest fan of the locking Neutrik jack on the front...

$3,500. No. Don't care if it's Nelson Pass.

    $3500 for single ended? WTF.

It's single ended, so half the price of Studio? After all, it is a $7K direct sales amp.

The following from from Innerfidelity indicates that the HPA-1 is a Pass Labs offering designed by Jam Somasundram. It's probably still very good. Just thought this should be noted.

Guess I shoulda looked at the price first. Yikes. Will be curious to see the circuit if/when Pass releases it.

His First Watt circuits are public. I don't know if he publishes Pass Labs schematics.

Could be interesting if there is a similar First Watt amp though...but at $3500, it's a hard sell.

If I had $3500 I would buy a Lynx Hilo and still have $1500 left over (it's on sale in Sweetwater). Proly a better measurement interface than a dScope III with a powerful headphone amp to go along with it.

At roughly 3 kg, the Hilo is also lighter than the Pass Labs, and it's got a touch screen I can mock around with.

Max voltage out on the Hilo is like 7 Vrms I think which is not bad IMO, plus awesome low output impedance and possibly plenty of current.

    But I don't have $3500 or $2000, so I'll just salivate.

Eh. Pass has fantastic headphone amplifiers out already in the F series.

You just have to have be okay with a big chassis & funky jacks in the back.

And spend that leftover on a SPL Phonitor 2 to satisfy your sexy big knob needs.

Speaking of Phonitor, how's SBAF's take on their products?

If only they used SICFET's. I wont mind the price so much in that case.

This definitely falls into the "if I win the lottery" category.

I want a Phonitor. So many knobs to play with! Some say that it sounds good too, but, on the other hand, others... don't.

I'd salivate over a Hilo, but... doesn't work with Linux.

This Pass Labs amp looks like just another box I'd walk past in a hifi shop.

Judging by appearances ...is fun :drunk:
