Well, huh. I wasn’t expecting that. The Magni/Modi stack is getting quite large if you add in an Eitr and Loki.

With Sol + Mani + Loki + Jil + Sys + Eitr + Modi + Loki + Magni, you could get it 8 high if you wanted to.

will stop by the Schittr and try this with the HD650. Would like to reduce the midbass hump without permenant mods.

Not too many discrete EQ boxes out there. Would like to mess around with two of them to use as an active crossover for a 2-way. Although probably not ideal because you can’t really mess with specific crossover points, but can get you a pretty good idea.

    Edit:

Read the specs. The lower frequencies have +/- 12db range and upper frequencies have +/- 6db to play around with. Don’t think that would be enough for an active crossover. But still would like to hear one with passive speakers.

That Loki-DSD can use a Wyrd

The wall wart situation is going to look stupid. I know they have Chuthulu but don’t know how much that can accommodate.

    Hahahaha.

Probably won't work to do this. The 20Hz shelf will help with HD650 rolloff, but there's no band that will address the 100Hz bump.

This might work well with something like the TH900 though.

This is very cool but I wish it had high/low shelf with an adjustable Q (aka: “tone control”) as those are the two EQs I find the most useful.

Edit: Are the 20 and 8K actually implemented as shelves? What are the Qs or db/octave? The specs are not very descriptive.

I believe 8kHz is not a shelf. I had a proto version of this (until my cat ate the caps off the bare board) with slightly different EQ points and a top-end shelf, but the production with the 8kHz is a great spot since many headphones have issues here. Transparency was about on par with the Freya FET mode. I'd have to get into the fancy SET gear to be able to tell a significant difference.

Dropping that 125hz slider from any normal 10-band digital EQ should get you there much better. I think this isn't meant for that specific tunings. More like a general tool for adjusting thump/brightness etc. with recordings that need it.

Hm. You can get a very capable digital EQ for less, with tons more functionality, albeit digital. I guess I'm skewing away from the target market.

Not for turntables. Unless you want to do something heinous and introduce an AD -> DSP -> DA step in the signal path.

Use case would be for people with turnables, eight-track tapes, and who like to tweak things with physical knobs. Knobs, steering wheels, and pedals are better than mouse, keyboard, shitty UIs based on Xerox windows, and AIs that get people killed in their Teslas. Whoever took away the the knob for radio tuners and replaced them with buttons should have been shot with anti-aircraft artillery, with their body parts then run over by tanks. Heck, even the USS Enterprise had a pop up joystick when the shit was about to hit the fan in an asteroid field (or whatever it was they were in).

Knobs: I'd take a Schiit Fulla 2 over anything I have to control the volume on digitally.

Time for Cthulu 2! In its current config, you can run 1 Eitr (6VAC), 1 Modi (16VAC), 1 Magni 3 (14VAC), and use the remaining 16VAC for Loki-1. The only powered mini thing it won't run is the Vali 2 due to its unique power requirements.

I'm excited about this and I'm ordering one next week, I have so many recordings that are shitty and could use broad tone controls. I hope future products in this family have a loudness button so those of us with speakers can better enjoy late night listening.

I tend to agree with this sentiment, having cut teeth on SSB receivers with dials and RIT (receiver incremental tuning.) Very useful. At minimum both interfaces should be available, knob for major sweep and buttons for remaining fine tuning, on serious receivers.
