You could buy two of them and run them in bridged mono configuration for all the extra oomph and swagger.

@Marvey, would you be willing to write up a brief comparison to the jot? Curious how close it gets.

Edit: Specific Magni3 question - does it have better treble timbre than the jot, not so steely sounding like the jot's treble?

It's been answered by Nick @ schiit. He said no.

I'll have to go over the @brencho's. He's got the Jot. Magni 3 definitely seems warmer than my Jot with none of the glare or steelyness (which my Jot still had a bit of). The treble is more like American 2A3 tubes with just the right amount of edge, crunch, and stridency instead of the Chinese Psvane Princess Smoothbutt stuff.

Marv's Jot that baked in his car definitely sounded less aggro than the Jot I once owned, but no back to back comparisons, etc etc. Bill and I did compare Marv's Jot to Bill's newer Jot, and it's very subtle, but Bill's newer Jot does sound a tiny bit warm and a bit more smooth up top. It's not a huge difference, subtle enough that I wouldn't be pissed if I had one over the other, but we heard it a couple times now.

Sorry dude, I should really buy my own damn amp again soon. Just waiting... :)

Magni 3 sounds pretty sweet though, looking forward to hearing it.

Hmmm... Schiit should sell a Muspelheim. (Baked Jotunheim.) Marketing speech could be "Carefully placed in Hel's oven where the electrons are lovingly massaged at 135 degrees until crispy mids and lush bass arise...". It's like the opposite of cryo-treating tubes, which seems to be a perfectly legit upsell at some vendors.

Recently got a used Aeon for its isolation and found it clipping through the Fulla 2, then the Magni 3 was announced. Needless to say, blood was spilled from the wallet...

Just got my Magni 3 and Modi MB in today. I have to head into work for a couple of hours, so I'm just leaving them on for now. Will give impressions once I get to them.

Looking forward to a Vali 2/Jot/Magni 3 showcase showdown. May push me to sacrafice the Vali 2 to the "for sale" gods and get a Magni 3 for work.

SO FAR, the Magni 3/Modi Multibit combo has surpassed the following things I've owned in the last year-ish.

    Lyr2/Modi 2u
    Audio GD NFB-11 (2015)
    Magni 2u/Modi 2u

I have not heard the Jotunheim enough to compare it this, but it's close from what I remember.

Interesting. You had paired the combo with the HD800? Would be great if you can expand a bit on how the combo has surpassed your earlier setups.

I'm not looking for the Magni 3 to perform any miracles with the hd800. My understanding is that it offers a pretty neutral signature which won't do the hd800 any favors. But I'll have my m3 in a few days and I can see for myself. I would expect the m3 to be pretty damn nice with the hd650 as well as many other headphones.

Who knows though, the m3/mini loki/Modi Multibit could be a giant killer with the hd800.

The past, yes. But I don't own the HD800 anymore, and I have the D2000 currently (that I used with the Lyr 2 and Modi 2u.) With those last two combos, I had the THX00, which is similar enough that I feel I can make that call (the THX00 had a bit more bass and the mids were slightly more recessed being the only major differences.) Here are the major differences I heard from the Lyr 2/Modi 2u to the Magni 3/Modi Multibit:

    1) The Magni 3 has a noticeably blacker background.
    2) Less haze than the Lyr 2.
    3) Resolve is better than the Lyr 2.
    5) Soundstage is a bit deeper and wider than the Lyr 2, but that was never the Lyr 2's strength.
    6) Less slam than the Lyr 2.
    7) The treble was actually quite a bit harsher on the Lyr 2 than one would think. The Lyr 2 was also grainier depending on the tubes.
    9) The Magni 3 is livelier, and seems to have a more cohesive sound than the Lyr 2. Bizarrely.

So far, (and this is coming from someone with a LITTLE Jotunheim experience,) it's similar to a good compromise between the Asgard 2 and Jotunheim. It's a bit warm and punchy, a lot more detailed than you'd think, and (channeling my inner Psal here) the least fucked treble I've heard from a Schiit amp. For $350 (Magni 3/Modi MB,) this basically destroys the schiit out of all the entry level stuff I've heard. If I had this back when I owned an Eikon, I would have not switched the Eikon to an Atticus (because I felt none of my gear could properly handle the Eikon...including the Lyr 2.)

Edit: f**k! FORGOT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART!

So, you know those little knub things that almost every schiit amp comes with that you can stick on the bottom of the device? Those have been replaced with flat, circular, inset feet that are already installed on the Magni.

This is so much of a bigger deal for me than it should be.

Haven’t the pre-installed feet been a regular feature since the Jotunheim?
